But what makes you believe that? We are a team that's had 3 straight losing seasons, have been predicted once again to win 4 games and of course we are unranked, yet we "SHOULD" have beat Tennessee, at rocky top, who is top 10 team and who beat Bama the following week.. the fact that we could have beat them and took it to overtime shows the progress in itself. We played above our expectations yet because we did have a chance to beat a team no one expected us to and we came up short, the narrative is now spun that "we are UF we should have beat Tenn going away".

It's like when we play good the excitement makes people forget that we are still progressing up from the team who has 3 straight losing seasons to the team we wanna be, but to just say we should have won a game that by all accounts we shouldn't have won on paper and because we didn't we are some how now underachieving because "We are UF"? That is crazy.

Frankly inevitable. Changes need to be made above Napier before getting rid of Napier. And those wont happen until the University has a permanent replacement for Fuchs.

Well, the reality is most if the time the team is only as good as it's QB. We may have the QB who may be the best in the country in a season or 2, the offense has looked better, the defense has looked better and we have played top 10 teams like we are determined. Plus 1 more year doesn't hurt as much as throwing out all the bath water and starting again in which it would be another 2 years+ before we see progress since our team would be poached to the bones of all our talent we have acquired.

To be fair the penalty on special teams was huge in that loss and is a coaching failure. The other stuff people point to in that game is overblown, but it's not inaccurate to say that a coaching mistake cost us that game.

All those analytics suggested we didn't belong on the same field with Ohio State. We kick the snot of them.

Not political. I think the governor is to blame for this mess. Hiring Sasse was a mistake and now leaves a prolonged search for a prez who can search for a AD who can search for a HC who will hire an OC. May take years.

Unfortunately gator, you are preaching to the choir. Most Gators realize we are finally seeing some real progress with this team and CBN is responsible for that progress. But those who only see negativity are going to pizz and moan no matter what happens. Even the good things CBN does gets a negative spin from the dark side of Gator posters.

The reason we have had the losing seasons under Napier is the coaching decisions he has made. Meyer could have used the same excuses that have been made for Napier and had a losing record his first 2-3 years here, as he was implementing his preferred SO offense without the right personnel. But instead of doing that, he MODIFIED his preferred offense to take advantage of the personnel he had on hand and won games. Each year under Napier there have been multiple games that were lost due to coaching brain farts. The games were there to win and the coaching staff gave them away. It took until year 3 to simplify the defense, and it took the players coming to him for it to happen!!

The Arkansas game last year that came down to a FG that was missed and shouldn’t have even been allowed to be attempted. The Tennessee game this year had an end of half FG that was negated due to a substitution penalty because the last TO was burned after a dead ball play. In year 3 he is still making mistakes that good coaches seldom make.

What we have is 20-ish games of questionable coaching to go with 2-3 games of good coaching. Maybe he has turned the corner, but people thought the same thing last year after the Tennessee game. And in view of the crap-show that the first 2 games of this season were, there is ample reason for questioning WTF is going on with this coaching staff and will we get Jekyll or Hyde.

We had the same arguments being made last year after playing close games with Missouri and FSU. Yet we have seen more of the same this year with respect to on field results. At what point in time do you say he is who his record says he is?

I could be wrong but it sounds like you are accusing me of selection bias. If so, bring the data to counter my position.

FSU is an ACC team that gets ACC resources. I, as an engineer, would judge their performance against other ACC teams with ACC resources. I do the same for UF and subsequently BN who is 0-3 vs the ACC. How does that get reconciled if the SEC is so superior to the ACC?

I can't control how people interpret data presented based on their own biases. I can only present it to try to support my position.

If you continue the conversation I believe we were not talking about the same thing.

No comparison to those games last year and the momentum we see building this year on the field. We are seeing better play from our Gators in every phase and it has been that way since the Tennessee game.
I was impressed by the two minute offense we ran with the THIRD STRING QB against, arguably, the BEST DEFENSE in college football last week that resulted in 3 points before halftime. Haven’t seen that before in CBN’s tenure.
We have a tough row to hoe but, this team and coaching staff is fighting through the injuries and playing hard. But despite this we will have to start winning some meaningful games to validate the progress. I’m pretty sure CBN understands this too. If you’re looking for a date or game that it starts I don’t think anyone can give you that but, I do think it isn’t far off: I’m hoping it’s this Saturday in Texas.

We weren’t. I simply stated the obvious that you can take any set of statistics and use them to arrive at different conclusions based upon boundary conditions and other influential factors you choose.

My other comment was in response to a completely different poster, and I was agreeing with him.

Urbs did modify his offense to accommodate the passing leader in UF history. I love me some Mertz but hes no Leak. It wasny only Leak though as that roster was stacked. Rosters are the number one factor and ours sucked when Napier took over. It decent now but still not alltime talented. Losses are still losses and theres no excuse for some game day clusters and playcalling. Ill be watching and hoping for the best i guess.
