No it hasn’t. Champ, Mac, and Napier were all effectively the same. We are crappy afterthoughts. Nobody cares if one crappy bowl is slightly better than another crappy bowl.

Mullen era was a clear upgrade but he quit

What are you even arguing here? "Effectively the same" proves that "another guy must be better" is wrong.

A beat down by Kirby probably heats the fire back up.

we saw this every year with the patchwork qb situation we had with Mac especially with treon Harris. The more game film we had on our QBs the less productive they became during the season. Also saw it with Jones as well.

A REBUILD required in the wake of a monster NAME hire, with the mother of all buyouts.

^^^THAT ought to be the biggest lesson for everyone, especially us.

So many on here want to trip over themselves over the big sexy name (with the big marital commitment that goes with it), as if that guarantees any damn thing other than making that guy fat AF...

...and as if the @$%&n terrain hadn't shifted on per with going from the Sahara to the tundra in a 24 hour period.

NB: coaches don't have the inordinate impact they had like just 3 years ago. They are only as good as their NIL support. Period.

    NB2: that's why Nick Saban--THE GOAT--is a talking head/ pitch man now. Straight up.

It sounds to me like “hope” and “wishes” without much factual foundation. When asked a similar question, Spivey answered that there was not much Napier can do this cycle, other than turn to the portal hitch is something he hasn’t excelled at to date (or words to that effect).

I agree with is point, but Napier hasn’t been lighting the enthusiasm button on fire. We should have the money to compete with the likes of UM and every other SEC team (save possibly Texas and A&M). But we aren’t getting the consistent talent across all positions, notably the OLine and DLine. What makes anyone think the NIL faucet will be opened with Napier at the helm? Because if it was, I’d be far less pessimistic than I am, even with the reservations about the gameday coaching.

The only fix is to create some buzz and momentum by pulling off some very unexpected wins. Just playing close isn't going to do it after the position he's put himself in. Has to win 3 out of the 4 monster stretch which is extremely unlikely. Maaaaybe 2 if they pulled off an upset on one of the big boys

Mullen was only a clear upgrade when he had Mac’s players. The only thing he did well was get portal players to fill in talent gaps.

By his third year, and because of his poor recruiting, the defensive talent gaps were so bad that supplementing just made the turd stink less. But it still stunk. By his 4th season it was on both sides of the ball.

It is how you lose that matters. We did not look like a well coached/well run team the first two years. In this year’s Tennessee game, we saw Napier make similar coaching errors to those made the previous year and we lost a game we should have won.

I have said this before, but the main issue with Napier isn’t the losses, but how he has lost those games and the product put on the field. We have been getting subpar/headscratching coaching decisions that have directly led to losses. For all the talk about lack of talent, it has been the coaching decisions that have directly led to losses each year.

EJ looked great against Alabama until the defenses is adjusted to take a few things away from him that made him very Simple

    Sure I’m not defending Mullen.

We ended up being shit under Champ, Mac, Mullen, and Napier. My point it’s foolish to debate which shit was more appealing. It’s all crap.

There is clear asymmetry. Winning 3 more games than the Napier typical is MUCH MUCH more impactful than losing 3 more. Losing 3 more makes near zero difference

I don’t disagree with your concept, but the Fulmer example was a poor one. Spurrier would have had the same record against them regardless of where in the season we played them. 2001 was a factor of Graham being out and our defense taking a night off rather than playing them late in the season.

Seems we're pretty much eye to eye here--my post was categorically NOT an endorsement or defense of Napier--if anything, it's an indictment, based on the insanely ridiculous, dumb AF, drunken sailor buyout provision.

But whatever we think of Napier, whatever happens with Napier, I hope we can agree that the next stop oughtn't be more stupid money for a shiny sexy name. That's doubling down on dumb imho.

Napes or not, pour money into our NIL org--{Florida Victorious?)--that's where we'll get the most bang for our buck.

The dude on the sidelines need only be competent, and IMO, ought to be connected to UF in some way deeper than Gator 'ho, only b/c we bought their loyalty (but really, only for the duration of the money-up-front of the contract portion--beyond that, we're at their @$##$# mercy, and then, we seem to pay them more for ditching our asses, than dealing with us, with didly squat for accountability. #$#@$ BRILLIANT!!!!).

We shall see, but in fairness you asked me how Napier could turn around a the recruiting situation. I provided my opinion of how, and you called it hopes and wishes. I mean… you were asking for a hypothetical. It wasn’t a prediction.
