I've stated my choice 1 is Cignetti out of what I would consider guys we could go get. Of course there could be other names that are available that I don't know about. The list of takes over Napier is really long, so as AD I got a list 20 deep minimum I would take over what we have currently.

I said they all were justifiably let go in a later post. I for the life of me don't understand believing those 3 needed to go but Napier needs to stay when he hasn't come close to accomplishing, on the field, what any of them did. NIL and the portal is a bunker busting missle for that solid brick house, just a reality of the times.

 

Not at you specifically, but UF is not a place where a coach should be learning how to be a successful coach. That of course is an incompetent AD issue.

 

I'll die on the hill that the issue was the best players were not getting the vast majority of the snaps in the early games. Certain players don't get any snaps and all of a sudden we are not whiffing tackles or blowing coverages.

 

You’re underestimating the damage associated with yet another failed hire. We will likely disagree on this, but I believe we’d be better off giving a guy 6 years than two guys failing in 3 years back to back. The program looks even worse and the HC job looks like a turnstile. Less attractive to prospective coaches than giving one guy more time to try and succeed. And stability generally helps recruiting

Trying to explain the dynamic is difficult bc its not a cut and dried proposition. Just know summer contact is not allowed with coaches only strength staff in physical activity. The face of this contact was the new hire guy. It takes time to forge and reinforce an identity. That is where UM was so good his cappo Mickey M knew urban’s wants and delivered in spades.

We were at a decided disadvantage heading into game 1 with no film on them offensively and ironing out the new defensive hierarchy. They had a season of GM to study complete with tendencies, DJ has changed much of that in our favor bc his accuracy and arm strength.

We look more cohesive as roles and personnel have sorted themselves out. We still need more bodies upfront on both O & D but BN has shown an ability to identify and recruit said talent with $ probably close on more of it.

This is the first year he can tell a recruit besides playing time as a frosh you will get better. Look at the improvement across the individual units OL DL LB DB RB QB WR. This is the reason we are competitive not dominant yet. Waiting 1 more season has zero downside bc as we are told the next guy can make the u turn in 1-2 seasons.

 

Great perspective, #5 then #6 coaching search before 2030 and we firmly claim the title of the program where coaching careers go to die rich.

IMHO, I don't think they should keep him. I'm not saying fire him now, but I think the admin should start looking/checking possible candidates.
I really wanted him to succeed, but he lost me after the Tenn game.
It's more than likely he will get suckier the next 4 games without his QB.
Someone suggested that he can be undefeated too if he played Indiana's schedule. I doubt that very much.
I just don't think he can win many coaching duels against teams with equal or lesser talent than his team. He definitely loses against teams with more talent.

 

Heard a cool stat, Indiana is the 3rd team to get to 8-0 with every win by 14 or more since WW2 with the others being '95 Nebraska (we know how good they were) and '04 Utah, Urban worked out well for us. That was a week ago, they're now 9-0 still all by 14+.

 

If it was DM we were keeping for those 6 years (or even Mac), I would agree. But definitely not BN or chump. Not only are they bad game day coaches, their offenses are not entertaining.

He's probably not much better than a little over .500 against teams with equal or lesser talent.

 

At best BN is going to go 8-4 here playing an SEC schedule every year even if he stays long term. If that's good enough for the fanbase now, then keep him.

 

DM was a "decent recruiter" too but he got crucified by Gator fans for it. It's hilarious how people think BN is a better coach than DM.

Who knows. We've got a bunch of idiots at the top making decisions. The one certainty is whatever they decide it will probably not end up well for the fans.

 

We have no clue, but word is DJ had a good medical examination and could possibly play this week, though they will probably hold him out. It's all wait and see right now and both DJ and Napier.

 

Outside of offensive wizardry dan was below average with other phases and his cronyism hurt the program according to many on here in addition to poor QB evaluation between FF and KT.

Currently we have a guy that has a boring offense with the first two iterations and suddenly with a QB that can spin the rock we look explosive no other adjustments. He has also made changes throughout the program that are bearing fruit. This guy can recruit he has done so from a position of weakness nil dysfunction. He is beginning to have substance to show recruits and $ seal the deal.

All the flashes have one trait hit the iron while hot and fizzle when the pipeline diminishes. Will this guy become dominant who knows?
