Earlier in the season you dismissed Klieman as a defensive coach who had a boring offense.

Pretty close characterization in my opinion. Just call me Mr. irrelevant;)

You haven't been proven anything. Just because Billy turned out to be bad doesn't mean that Mullen didn't need to go.

Irrelevant and can't read. I said nothing about his offense, I said hiring a coach from KSU would excite nobody which of course remains true.

DM was far and a way the best coach we've had since Urban and that was borne out by his record. He had a 6-6 year and idiot Gator fans were calling for his head. I don't blame him for mocking us and we are getting what we deserve IMO.

All of our coaches since Urban have been fired so who cares if he was the best of a bad group?

Man, your feathers are facing to many directions. You’re supposed to feel for Ahap and Napier does not have an enviable position. He was destined to be rich years ago but it’s really not about that. I’ve tried to explain to teenagers to no avail that money alone just can’t make you complete. There’s things far more important.

Mcelwain and Mullen had similar winning % at UF, DM was better but "far and away"is a stretch given the sample size and other factors like difficulty of schedule.
But clearly Mullen was trending down in most areas...the wheels were coming off UF needed to make a move.

I don't think too many people think he's happy because he has swindled tens of millions from a public university, moreso don't care if he's unhappy because after the coming termination he can literally spend as much time as he wants figuring out what will make him happy moving forward without having to worry about money ever.

If it's becoming a good head football coach, well he can examine what went wrong, start over, and do it differently. All the while not worrying about bills, retirement, kids education, kids retirement, grandkids education, great grandkids retirement, etc...

If he can't find happiness when it's literally all he has to worry about that's a personal issue.

I have a job where my failure would very much be noticed and acted upon. I don't get tens of millions for getting fired. As with most regular people I'd then have to face my failure and figure out how to financially recover while figuring it out.

There’s definitely a path. It’s narrow. But it does exist.

Good lord what was mullens qb and wr room going to look like the next 2 years? Wtvr recruiting class we had was already fleeing because of Grantham and we didn't have jack for offensive commits. Mullen's overall record was OK but he somehow lost 4 games with one of our most prolific offenses ever and then followed that up with a 6 loss year. He held Pitts out of the lsu game to save him for Bama because he was hitching his chances for an NFL gig by beating Bama and getting a shot at a NC. When it fell apart the dude quit. I've never heard a coach blow off a bowl game like he did that year. Your boy stole snaps from Trask for Emory Jones. How much success has Jones had since he left florida? Mullen left an absolute mess.

No, Saban was hardly ok with Lane but he gave him a chance to rehab his career.

Unfortunately, Kiffen was too stupid to take advantage of it.

Once a con man, always a con man.

Lane just thinks that he is smarter than everyone else.

And not very bright people want to believe it.

As P.T. Barnum used to say, "There is a sucker born every minute!"

No truer words have ever been spoken.

It is how con men prosper (if you wish to call it that)!

IMO, probably. At the beginning of the season, I would have told you Billy's job was safe at 6-6 barring other weird circumstances like faking death threats or starting a fight with a fraternity on campus. You know, things you wouldn't ever expect major college football coaches to do. The general assumption was a mediocre record against this schedule was okay if we saw progress.

Let's game out getting to a 6-6 record. Most likely road to 6 wins is beating UK, @FSU, and one of LSU or Ole Miss. Texas and UGA are certain losses, throw those away. In that scenario, two feel good wins to close out the season will be plenty for SS to argue keeping Billy around. The question becomes what do the big boosters say at that time. If they've got their "whale in waiting" maybe they still force a change, but I think SS fights back.

But this requires the team getting to 6-6. That means they have to beat UK and FSU, and then score an upset in one of the last two home games (again throw away Texas and UGA, the next good team Billy beats away from home will be his first). Not completely far-fetched, but not super likely either.

I would have to say that you are certainly talented at revisionist history.

Of course, that seems to be a human characteristic.

We just cannot seem to be objective about the past.

At least when our emotions are involved.
