Roster budget would be key if they want to actually compete annually. Maybe a stadium? Dont they play in a mini stadium?
I was the first Gator fan in my family and it’s totally football specific. My parents became Gator fans and are minor boosters and season ticket holders. My little brother is an alumni. Soooo, without football, a difference t chain of events would have occurred. Had I not seen Wes at Jax, my brother more than likely isn’t an alumni. It’s not all that cut and dry.
I can afford to go to games when we are good a couple of times a year but sure, you can send me some money to gas up for the rigs if you want jackass.
And a lot of gray area in between. If not for football, why not go to Vandy or Texas or Michigan or UCLa Or Princeton.
Does Vandy actually make their football players gain entrance academically? I thought they did like everyone else and made special rules to allow athletes in that had no business in the classroom.
Totally agree but in year four? This guy can’t figure out a 10 sec runoff or be prepared to make quick decisions at crucial points in games but give him four years to figure out he needs a coordinator? Most every fan alive has known this for quite some time. Keeping him and getting an oc may very well be the best path forward but put the car in second gear already.
I buy my tix on the 50 from boosters that choose not to attend the actual games . I appreciate them saving me a good seat but at Tennessee last year I bought 2 of six and had four empty seats next to me.next to me.
I think its bigger than this though Baz. There is a fundamentals issue throughout the program. 1. I dont think the defense is fixed yet. We have seem moments of fools gold from them before. Remember, if UT had a QB they had two EASY bombs for TDs where their wideout was 5-10 yards open blowing past our blown coverages. 2. We still call timeouts/delay penalties after commercials. 3. We still have personnel issues on special teams. 4. Recruiting is falling apart. Your perspective works with the strong CEO type, but Billy is lacking there too. I had hoped he would see his own shortcomings and hire a strong OC, but I am now seeing he doesnt think that is the problem. I am in the camp of, if you have to strip him of his power, then he is the wrong guy. .urban could call plays, but he realized he shouldn't. Thats where Mullen came in. Noone had to tell him that. I was fine with your idea at the end of last season, but i feel we are too far down the road now....sadly. i was really rooting for him and I like Billy.
Actually getting a nice renovation and addition currently, but it'll just add more seats for Florida, UGA, UT and Bama fans who literally outnumber Vandy fans at those games.
Probably. But i think its a geographical issue. Nashville is a great city. A lot of alumni live there and a lot of people like the biannual trip there.
Agree. But why doesn't this happen? Muschamp refused to delegate O. Mac seemed more invested in his BBQ sauce, than football. What could we do? Mullen was married to 3rd n Grantham....we were impotent to dissolve that toxic marriage ...and now Billy--who can't coach his way out of a wet paper bag, refuses to delegate game time management to someone who's remotely competent, when there are literally thousands, right there on campus, more competent and capable than he--and we're @#$%&n powerless to do a damn thing about it. Why? Because of these dumbass contracts we enter into, because.... ....everybody else does. That's why. That's the only @#$%&n why. And it's complete stupidity. Or as Einstein famously put it--the (his) definition (not actually a definition) of insanity--doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results. How about we tap a guy as "head football coach", and establish a committee of UF alumni/ former Gator players and coaches--to oversee, AND maintain control over who the OC, DC, STC, and position coaches are... Something new and innovative, rather than SOSDD, but expecting different results. ...because clearly, ain't no way the next guy isn't going to do us like the last 4. Can't possibly happen, right? We'd be *insane* to think doing the same thing wouldn't yield a different result....
