My list in order: 1. Lane Kiffen (use threats that Urban will take job to get him to accept job publicly prior to ESD) . SOS can help get him as well I believe 2. James Franklin (don't know buyout though) 3. Mike Gundy Rest Not in order need more research: Bill O'brien, Brent Key from GA Tech, Urban Meyer, Jeff Brohm from Louisville, Chris Kleiman Ks State, Jon Gruden (has he paid off his sins by now? I cannot remember them exactly been so long. Did he show regret and learn from it?), Kliff Kingsbury, Lance Leipold, Mike Vrabel, Dabo Swinney (interview him and see if he has a plan for portal going forward) Note all options has either P4 or NFL head coaching experience. I know there is a hot coordinator out there that could turn out great but I know statistics and probability and that is a higher risk hire and we should hire a head coach for football the way Alabama hires (I don't want a Saban tree just saying they don't take chances). When they needed a coach 18 years ago they got Saban when they needed a coach year ago they got the best p4 coach out there that was a proven head coach at p4 level. If you see my list there are some with NFL head coaching success as well. I think in the NFL you play with mostly equal talent and winning a division and making playoffs is hard.
Interesting that on August 22, they mentioned him leaving for Florida. Not predictive but it’s definitely out there
No one will like this, but, here goes. The Gators should go after Dabo and feign gratitude the entire time he is here. I live about 45 minutes from Clemson and he is fed up with the BS he is getting from righting a ship that was adrift for decades. Anyway, it's something to look into. Bama didn't get him, so he's ours now. Edit: the dislikes have proven my initial statement on the matter, lol.
I agree needs to be interviewed at least. I updated my list above. If Dabo has some sort of plan for portal then he needs to be considered IMO
Still he brought stability to that program as well as NCs. He is in his 24th year there. 15th as a HC. Maybe he needs a change. He is 54, so if we could get 8-10 yrs out of him.
Scratch Dabo.... Dabo Swinney: Clemson football coach staff's salary for 2024 Swinney is set to make $11 million in 2024, the third year of a 10-year deal he signed in September 2022. Also his OC and DC make close to 3 million combined. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney's Alabama clause in his contract, explained Swinney's 10-year, $115 million deal with Clemson was signed in September 2022 and runs through 2031. It solidified his position as one of college football's highest-paid coaches, giving him an average annual salary of $11.5 million.
Are we just posting wants and desires now? I'd like a 36" Blackstone grill, a 46' Hallberg-Rassey, and a Singer 964 Turbo. Can the new coach make that happen?
I think its fairly simple. Short of some back-door talks with Urban that blossom into something more than just passing conversation, I mean Kiffin is the offer you basically have to make first. Period. End of discussion. You make him turn you down because your options down the list arent going to say no to being a second offer to Kiffin. Now what his decision is to be guessed and only him to know. But you offer him the biggest contract you can and make him say no.
1. Lane Kiffin - can bring his current DC for all I care, he’s solid. 2. Dan Lanning - I trust his hires already 3. Glenn Schumann w elite OC 4. Matt Rhule 5. Marcus Freeman w elite OC wishlist, don’t hit me with the “Dan LaNnInG iSnT LeaViNg OrEgOn” anybody besides the guys and I am disappointed.
The problem with Kiffin is Ole Miss most likely will be a playoff team. He won't leave until they are out or won the NC. So we are talking January 2025 before he would be on campus.
