Ok rank your choices. I will go first 1) kiffin 2) Gundy 3) James Franklin 4) bill O’Brien 5) cignetti 6)kleiman 7) Brohm 8) jon gruden (could be convinced he be ranked higher) 9) stoops
The problem I have and cannot be quantified is salary. These guys are at multi-generational wealth status. Once you sign that check, what makes you go to work? You can tell everyone to eat it. Bye! Don’t like it?! Pay me. It is a messy thing with guaranteed contracts that have no off ramps like incentives. Some have the drive, some are lucky, some are frauds. How can you flesh them out? Look at the a-z opinions on here….
You miss the point. We dont have to be perfect to have a chance to compete in the playoffs. Winning 10 games and then in the post season anything can happen it is all about the match ups you get. Playing in the playoffs is the first step. Winning 2-3 games would be a very successful season
Talent acquisition game. Watching NFL and Georgia has key players in every game that came from the last few years. Stockpiled talent along with Bama, twxas, OSU and maybe lsu. Big drop off in recent years from them to the rest of the field.
Ranking the mentions 1. kiff 2. Lincoln Reilly 3. Fisch 4. Brohm 5. Chadwell 6. Franklin 7. Kerwin 8. Golesh 9. Lanning 10. Urban I’d be relatively hopeful with that list. would be mad about Gruden and Stoops. Bad fits Tier 2 OCs and take a chance on someone 1. Brian Johnson 2. Penn st OC Koletnicki 3. Kade Bell 4. Jason candle HC Toledo or Rob Weiner (OC Toledo) 5. Major applewhite 6. Kellen Moore 7. Joe Brady 8. Kyle flood OC Texas 9. Will stein OC Oregon
Pretty pessimistic, #3 & 4 in the SEC would fit that description and wouldn't see 1-4 until the 2 round. I wouldnt automatically write off 3 or 4 in the conference
I totally agree, didn’t realize they gave the fake power four champions buys. Though it was actual top 4.
What are you calling the top 4? The top 4 in the playoff are conference champions. So 6-12 could very well be sec teams that either lost the championship or lose 2 games to say Texas and uga but would really give another conference champ a struggle. But if you are referring to top 4 in rankings, right now the sec has tex bama then there is OSU and oregon. Uga isn't top 4 but likely 6or7. Miami looks like they could give anyone a run (although the defense looked suspect this week). Tenn as well. There are just a lot of very good teams and dangerous teams out there right now. Is number 12 going to give number one a run doubtfully but certainly a top 10 team could.
You posted that at the same time I was typing my response. Nonetheless, I also argued that even if you are talking about the top 4, I don't believe that's the case.
I've been thinking about urban coming back On buddy Martin he said "I love Florida; it's where my heart is but the ship has sailed.. BUT… we’ve seen dozens of coaches say “never” only to end up doing it anyway. We’ve seen Mack Brown head back to UNC etc etc. You gotta think, this dude has a legendary career at Utah, Ohio state and Florida only to end up failing dramatically at Jacksonville… that’s NOT how he wants the end of his story to be written. He’s got an ego. No way he wants that to be how it ends. No way he lets that happen. There’s a huge part of him that wants to write the last chapter. What better way to revamp his image and narrative than to revamp Florida. So much of it makes sense. He’s got a home here, ties here…. We’ve been HISTORICALLY bad- losing to Georgia Southern, ending Kentucky win streak, losing to Vandy, 3 straight losing seasons… He could come in here and win 8-9 games and be a hero. There’s a TON of talent on this team. Billy has raised the talent profile, we have great facilities, Nil isn’t awful like it was 2 years ago, Lagway could be his Tebow… honestly so much of it makes sense. I think he's gonna come back. I think the deal is already done but they don't want to embarrass Billy so they've got urban out there doing radio shows saying he's not coming. Just like he pretended to be "covering the Big10 on Fox" but he was going to Ohio state the whole time Mark my words. Urban is coming back. I woke up this morning with this weird gut feeling. Urban comes back, gets Kyle flood as OC and Durkin as DC, retains Billy G - we’d be in the playoffs year 1
