Something has clicked with the defense, for sure. I wonder how responsible AA is for that. It seems he is more directly involved this season.
So you want the Gators team to suffer through a humiliation so that the HBC can get fired? Think about the feelings of the Gator players. Think about guys like Lagway bolting to UGA or wherever.
I’m hoping he actually brings in an elite play schemer and play caller. If he does, then we have real potential. If he doesn’t, his ceiling is well below where we want to be.
That ship has sailed, brother. Napier is not going to bring in an OC now that he has a real opportunity to build his own credibility as a play caller with Lagway as his QB. If he wasn't going to bring in an OC before, he's certainly not going to now. Don't get me wrong, it would certainly be welcome if he did, but he's not going to for the same reasons he didn't before and then some.
Even if the offense were to improve under Napier with Lagway and the rest of the skill positions we return, his attention needs to be solely focused on running the organization of the team. He has been overwhelmed and there is a reason most every coach has coordinators. Kirby Smart has Schuman for a DC despite being known as a great DC himself for example.
Allegedly, his commitment to ring a new OC was the reason Stricklin agreed to given the vote of confidence. Allegedly.
I am deeply hopeful this is correct. Now it makes it important to pick the RIGHT OC. Which Gator fans will dissect and dismiss / argue over all over again.
If he doesn't, then I feel like this is fool's gold. As I said before, getting the players to play hard is a bare minimum requirement for a HC. So, while that's great to see, it's not necessarily confirmation that this is the path forward. I guess the other side is whether there is someone out there they know will be an improvement.
I have heard that too, but I am not sure I believe it. This would be tantamount to Stricklin telling Napier he knows how to run the team better than Napier does.
No...don't be concerned. You can always go back to talking to yourself in your little Deion/Colorado thread. No one will bother you there.
I heard the same rumor this season. Who knows? wasn’t the rumor that Stricklin told Mullen to fire Grantham too? And he did and then the wheels completely came off of Mullen. maybe Napier is open to changes for improvement. Mullen clearly was not.
Very well-said. One place I differ: good-faith vs. bad-faith debaters. I enjoy listening to other positions, especially when I find I'm wrong and learn to see differently. Some folks though don't even believe what they are saying. They just want to torque people up.
