They should by all rights lose to OSU on the road. Not sure how that has anything to do with what I said, but OK.

Getting players to play to play hard should be an absolute minimum requirement for coaching. How hard are we going to pat this man on the back for getting the bare minimum?

Yes, listen to the question you are asking. Should the University of Florida football team be expected to win games vs top 10 teams? Yes. Absolutely yes. Why even play the games if the answer is no? For crying out loud remember the Gator standard? I do.

Been playing football since 1887, in the big 10 since 1899 and never had a 10 win season, he has a good chance to be 10-0. It's crazy when you compare it to what that program is for as long as it has existed.

That, in response to a reply in which I am complimenting a coaches achievements? Of all my posts you could pick, pure stupidity.

I think you just reiterated what i daid. I never said what hes doing isnt impressive but its also along the lines of what tgat coach is doing at Vandy who has played some decent teams and held their own. Probably similar talent and both coaches doing great jobs. The records just look different because of the schedules. Schedules do matter.

Did Georgia and fsu have the same record? Is one a bit better than the other?

It dorsnt equate conference to conference or schedule to schedule. Indiana's 8-0 isnt even comparable to if we were 8-0. Analytics is opinion. Thats where everthing goes wrong and we have to use thinking instead of doing. Tgats why pksyoffs are so much better than some bcs bs.

Sure but so does product on the field. If anything, vandy might be a little more questionable despite playing a tougher conference because their QB has been a huge difference for them. We've seen a QB be THE difference in a teams success many times with Newton, Travis, Ward etc only to fall off greatly afterwards.

Indiana has had strong and disciplined defensive play while also not relying heavily on a one single offensive player. They have been solid all over the field from the little I know after following them somewhat this year.

Yrt Vandy beat Bama and tgats much more impressive to me. Theres no doubt cignetti is going a magnificent job though as they are udually bottom dwellers. Looks to be a well coached team and id see why we hired him if thats the route we took. Still not a really proven coach. They've literally beat nobody. Vandy has beat better teams.

They also lost to Georgia state, Missouri and beat ball state by 10 and Kentucky by 7

I do believe he’ll have to win 3 of the next 4 to finish 7-5 to keep his job. But in the unlikely event he does that, the administration should declare him good and lift the black cloud of doubt, for he would have clearly turned this disaster around.

Exactly, saying their schedule does them a ton of favors wrt their record isn't saying they are not a hell of a team and he isn't a hell of a coach, but in the SEC, you rarely can have an off week on the field and expect to come out with the W, these other conferences that are extremely top heavy allow a bit more margin of error.
Indiana can afford to show up flat, not play mistake free ball, and just overall an off week and still beat the teams they've played the 1st 9 weeks of the season. They are all ranked at the bottom of the conference.

They've up till now have been able to avoid Oregon, OSU, Penn st. Which are basically the only good teams this year.
Again I like Cignetti, think he's a breath of fresh air, albeit an old one. Lol

Im not sure if its because it was early in the year and they have improved since as we have. Thats the most impressive thing about cig to me is the steadiness of Indiana. No hiccups or lack of focus. He had those kids prepared game one and has taken care of business. They may not be one of tge top 20 teams in the country in reality but they are well coached and he is getting everything of of the talent he has on the roster.

With DJ maybe and still a longshot. Beck kept us in the game slong with a great defensive effort from our guys. Theres almost zero chance Warner can run this gauntlet.

With his past three jobs turning around basement dwellers to instantly compete against their more talented and/or more established competition, he looks like the latest iteration of "he can take his and beat yours and take yours and beat his." Regardless of what happens to them for the rest of the season or us next season, I think it's really impressive and great for the sport.

Where Dan Mullen really screwed up was taking 4 stars that were filler. (not recruited by SEC schools, or couldn’t qualify academically) Once the dust settled, you saw how mediocre his classes were for UF’s standards. All that to say that this 2025 class may be the worst in Gator history. M

But Dan’s issues weren’t his game day coaching. It was the fact that he clearly quit. Firing him was correct. Who we hired to be his successor ended up being the wrong choice.
