With both Mertz and DJ now hurt and we looked on track to beat Georgia today, BN is not getting let go this year and if DJ does not come back this season, we probably will not win another game outside of FSU
Napier is not recruiting well enough to keep his job. If he cannot recruit better, it doesn't matter if we give him another year because we will have the same results. Im willing to give him a chance if recruits start showing up. Unfortunately, they are doing the opposite. Legacies looking elsewhere and leaving. Not good...
Great effort today. Think nil players at if disagree. First season I’ve seen progression from a Napier team, but year 3 of losing seasons is damning.
This is not something I follow closely, heard about NIL drying up after our first two suckfest games. If there's any truth to that then idk how he is supposed to recruit, either the spigot gets turned on or he has to get canned as nobody can win without players.
We can all be happy about this amount of fight but the overall state of the program is we are way behind the top schools in talent and nothing is changing. We’re basically replicating the Mullen strategy of trying to get an elite QB to make up the difference but not as good a game day coach as Mullen.
I credit the kids for the fight they showed today not the coach. BN has to go. Players should never have to go to the coach and beg for changes to have a chance at success. I’ll credit sunbelt Billy for finally listening to something other than his own ego but should have been on top of so many things long before now. Too little too late, send this fool packing.
We played the #2 team in the country tight to the 4th quarter, with a 3rd string freshman quarterback--who made a completely understandable freshman mistake that was the difference in the game, in the last quarter of the 4th quarter ... But were way behind in talent???? Sorry hun, that simply does not gel. I said it back in the Miami game--i was @#%^ pissed, bc the talent was clearly there; the coaching was not. The Kentucky and Georgia games show we can play with ANYBODY, with competent coaching. "Scared Money" --the guy we hoped for and thought we got 2.5 years ago.... has finally showed up. GO GATORS!!
I don’t know about that. Our DB, QB, and RB rooms are pretty good when healthy. OL has been playing better, and our punter and kicker are elite. Not many better than Mullen on game day, but he sucked at building a program for elite success.
I’m far more interested in what he can do through the transfer portal. We win that game, convincingly I believe, if Lagway doesn’t get injured. In addition to the 3 DB’s injured tonight, not including losing Marshall 2 weeks ago. That, to me, earned him another year. We fire him now, there would likely be a mass exodus of players and we absolutely cannot afford that. I believe with the freshman we have, we will be a dangerous team next year.
I cant fault you for being optimistic. I just don't see him doing well in the portal either, especially if people won't open their wallet for him. I'd love nothing more than to keep Billy and him start winning but unfortunately, I just don't see a way to being competiting for National championships anywhere in the next couple years. He's 15-18 or something like that. Our class is ranked 60+ and some that we do have in the fold are looking around hard. We shall see.
The guy we hoped for and thought we got never existed. Smoke and mirrors. However if the chosen one has FINALLY arrived and leads us to the promised land I’ll happily insert my foot into my into my mouth. I want the football program to succeed and excel but I can’t see how that will happen under BN.
What a brutal stretch of 1 team they have to play that is ranked. Go pull up their schedule, it’s what every coach dreams about when looking for a contract extension.
Now maybe, with all our injuries and a 3rd team qb. But not when DJ is healthy and the D playing much better.
We lost our best offensive and defensive players from last year with Billy coming back. And, with Billy as coach, our recruiting now is terrible. If, big if, we can bring in a good coach why do we think even more players leave or our recruiting suffers (even more)? Wouldn't a new coach bring talent from his current team if your hypothesis of players following coaches were true? How do we know our freshman won't pull an Ettiene? Players look for NIL, a chance to play for titles, a school/coaches they believe in, and for a situation they think will further their careers. Not sure your assumption is valid but know that great coaches acquire talent to win, and do win.
