He has the same clause as Napier. If he is let go without cause, he gets 85% of his remaining contract. Since the contract was just signed it still has 8 yrs on it. His buyout goes down every year.
Can the service academies even take the Stanford guy? How do you transfer into West Point as a So or Jr? Seems like that's a 4-year deal.
Lane has 9mil a year until the end of the decade.. 45 mil Napier is a 50 mil buyout Asst coaches are another 20 or so. And we haven’t even discussed salary for LK moving forward… The money is ridiculous.
Urban might come. I can tell by his talk, his interest in the program. I sense that he might want to make amends. Posters here say Urban's "red ass" discipline won't work anymore. I say horse shit. "Red Ass" discipline is exactly what this team needs. Meyer won everywhere he coached in college, big time. Yes, he whiffed in the NFl, but so did Spurrier, Saban and Kiffin. Kiffin got straight up railroaded out of town by the Raiders, and then again at USC where he got tarmacked. I think you may be right. I think the cats out of the bag that it’s tough to sustain success here in todays environment with what Florida wants to be (Stanford of south).

Why should he leave Oxford to come to this dumpster fire? He just got an eight-year extension this past December, he has complete control of the program. Those "good ole boys" are funding his every wish. The immediate future for Ole Miss looks very bright. Why do we chase coaches who will not come here? Remember the exhaustive post here on this forum about getting Chip Kelly? we are not going to get anyone before the end of the season. We might as well buckle up for another disappointing year and hope that the powers that be, hire a home run coach. I have had enough of this sad state of affairs.
Recall the past four coaching changes and the hire came out of nowhere. But those were with Foley and Stricklin running the show. Not sure it's the same this time. But I still expect a number of names to come up and the guy we hire be somewhat a surprise.
There was a price that Chip Kelly would’ve accepted. We didn’t pay it. He sucks anyway, but that’s beside the point. Kevin has not recruited at Ole Miss at the level of the big boys and he has built a roster much like Norvel did through the portal. Maybe that’s sustainable every year for a decade and maybe not. Is not on the priority list of programs right now and that could be Kiffin very shortly. He is losing a lot after this season.
