What is "real competition"? You mean the opponents their scheduled to play every week no matter the school he's coaching at. Did you expect him to play Bama and UGA every year when he was at JMU? Does the utter demolishing of Matt Rhule's Nebraska not count today? Did you happen to see the score? Seemed pretty definitive to me. Lol There is plenty of left for them to prove, but acting like what he's done so far isn't impressive is frankly lunacy to me.
Yes. Been trash for awhile. But they were 3-9 last year and are currently 7-0 and yet we still hear the same peeps chirping "but who have they played???" Ad nauseum.
If you know how coach searches work then you know back channel convos happen without having to fire the coach. Do you think uf hasn't already had off the record feelers?
I think an interim is better for the players and the rest of the season so I think it’s better for the athletes. But we can agree to disagree
I think it’s the opposite. They can’t engage with Sexton as then that tells him that Napier is gone. They can’t talk to Sexton until Napier is fired
I think an interim coach gives this team a better chance to win now, so I don't see the point in waiting.
I can tell you that's not an issue when it's back channel and not official uf uaa Same with Trace Armstrong
I suggested Mike Peterson, kind of like Cadillac at Auburn. A former player, current coach who cares about the program.
My problem with firing him now is that it closes doors when we need to be keeping our options open. If Billy can turn this into a respectable season at 6 or 7 wins, then we will by definition be seeing the improvement we all say we want to see. Before the season started, most here were willing to accept a winning season with evidence of improvement. You seem almost afraid of the possibility that Billy could turn the corner and get another year to build his team. I don’t get that - hell, keep as many options on the table as we can. And if he doesn’t win 6, then you get your wish. What do we have to lose? You know we’re talking to candidates — if a Cignetti or a Klieman nods his head then we’re good. But there’s still no reason to jerk the rug out from under Billy now, because the new guy still won’t be available to us until December. It seems you guys want to fire him now just to make yourselves feel better, even though it accomplishes basically nothing positive. One guy said I don’t know business — because I like to keep open as many options as I can? QUESTION: Will you still want to fire Billy tomorrow if we put it all together and kick Kentucky’s butts tonite?
Boys! A name I have not seen mentioned here for the next HBC at UF that grabbed my attention today. Former JMU and current IU(7-0) Coach Cignetti. He has a 126-30 career record and the Hoosiers are making moves unseen in 57 years. His assistants have been with him for years who seem highly loyal and his players have the utmost respect for him. Just some food for thought.
