Miami, with arguably less resources, changed coaches at exactly the same time. They were prepared. LSU changed coaches at exactly the same time, they adopted (even if they can’t get a good defense). Yes, we were unprepared, but there needs to be accountability for the screw up—from the administration to the coach. There is no GOOD excuse for being unprepared, not at this level and not with our resources.

Fundraising is supposed to be Stricklin's forte and a major reason he was hired. If he can't do that, what's his purpose here? It sure isn't his magic formula for hiring coaches.

The boosters either pay or they dont. I doubt he can knock on their door and sweet talk them into spending millions. Does the AD decide how a school runs their athletic program. I think he is just a public figure and doesnt decide which channels money pours into. I dont care who the AD and coach is, when i see top five classes every year, ill know UF is all in. If our classes remain in the teens, ill know we arent serious about national championships.

That's on our booster and admin level. Probably also why Bama, Georgia, LSU, OSU have routinely cherry picked the state for the past 20 years regardless of coach or record. And in this vapid era, South Beach with a ton of cash is a huge selling point.

YEP, I imagine Oregon will be in the conversation for quite a while. Lanning would be an IDIOT to go anywhere else. No reason too.
Same with Kiffen, Shane Matthews says that "Ole Miss" plantation money is coming in by the truckloads to the program.

What does that have to do with my response to a particular post. The poster said CBN has NEVER brought in any talent to Gainesville and that Mac and Mullen recruited circles around CBN. I responded that he has , in fact he has signed the highest rated QB we've ever had, right up there with Brock Berlin, I also said that last years class was the 1st that included multiple consensus 5 star players in same class since the 2010 class.

What part of that is false and where did I mention this years class at all? Recruiting isn't expected to be booming when every week "Fire CBN" talk is all you hear. This class so far is sorry outside of Brown, Ben hanks, waltez Clark and whatever others still remain. But that was not what my post stated. You came in with the 3 star Tebow comment and I'm not sure you were clear on what was even being discussed, because I believe TT is the best QB we've ever had, but he was not rated higher by the recruiting sites than Lagway who is rated up there with Brock Berlin.

It's sad and I'll adapt by not caring as much. I'm not into pro sports and pissing contests about money raised and spent.

I love my alma mater, and Gainesville, and football is just a part of it, as well as other sports, win or lose.

I have empathy for fans who only care about football. But then again, it's a game.

And now, without the fear of getting sanctioned for buying their team like they did a few years ago, they can go ahead and compete with the big boys if they want

I mean, its just a game and entertainment for me. When its not entertaining, ill find something better to do with my time and money. I was very excited at tge miami game for a few minutes. By the third quarter, i felt robbed. At least Spurriers was good.

I probably didn't have the full context of what you were replying to, so my apologies if I misconstrued what you posted.

I do think, however, that superlatives of prior BN classes are meaningless if he can't maintain that trajectory and right now we are miles away from that. His job security was already on thin ice prior to the season and the class hasn't changed much since then other than 1 or 2 de-commits and commits.

Pulling funds will do that. If bigs bags were available, someone would have taken them. It might not be what we want but we would be in tge teens at worst.

The class has stalled after landing Moore, banks, brown, will griffin ('26 QB) and i believe it has to do primarily, among other things. The hot seat talk has caused a lull in our recruiting that was starting to pick up. Now I'm just sitting back waiting to see what, if anything can be done to salvage what we got.

I think the hot seat talk being detrimental to recruiting is absolutely true. But to be fair, we started off the season with our sixth loss in a row by getting thumped by an in state rival. By the time we lost to A&M we had lost 7 of our last 8 with the only win being against an FCS team. I think just about any coach of a major program would have been in a public hot seat after that.

As Wanne15 keeps pointing out, bigger checks can alleviate those problems, at keast to a large degree. But it becomes quite the vicious cycle when continued losing negatively impacts giving, which negatively impacts recruiting, which negatively impacts giving, etc.

This is a Chicken or Egg discussion: What came first, Recruits shy about signing on due to terrible on-field results with Napier as head man, or terrible on-field results causing pundits to speculate that Napier wasn't long for the job? Either way the result is that same with respect to 2024 recruiting.

And generally that means there is an imminent opening. Not creating one here hastily will just prolong the pain and suffering.
