That's just incorrect. It is a broadly used term but still majority is just math.

Hes worth a shot no doubt. He will get a shot to coach with the big boys if he keeps it up and wants that.

What are you talking about? I'm talking about football analytics. Are we discussing 2 different things here?

It's like trying to use the transitive property in football and it damn sure doesn't work between a bunch of different conferences and a bunch of people that vote who's ranked where and the records don't really mean the same thing, its sometimes a bunch of numbers with writers and such voting. Analytics have tgeir place but are often way off base.

OK, so no. I'm talking mostly about the 3rd and 4th topic listed below.

Here are some ways football analytics is used:
    Player evaluation
Teams can analyze a player's playing style, goals scored, assists, and other metrics to evaluate their performance.

    Game preparation
Coaches can use metrics to streamline game preparation.

    Predictive analytics
Some use predictive analytics or win probability models to help coaches decide what to do in certain situations.

    Results-based statistics
These stats, such as total yards, points, or passer rating, provide context for ranking player and team efficiency.

    Next Gen Stats
The NFL uses Next Gen Stats to provide insights for fans, bettors, and bookmakers.

Good/Bad is subjective. Win/Loss is objective. Why is it so hard to understand I am speaking objectively when I cite data such as win loss, talent profile, power rankings, etc? If I'm giving my opinion I will try to make it obvious or insert an IMO.

Jordan Travis was their Michael Jordan. It was obvious how much he carried that team based on the games he missed. It's the same for us this past week when DJ went down in comparison to Warner.

It should have been a red flag on Norvell the extent to which the team quit going into the bowl game, but as someone who wishes pain and suffering on FSU I'm glad they ignored it.

He’s recruited one top guy who might turn out to be really good (Lagway). No one else screams early round draft choice. So far. DM recruited just as well and without paying guys.

To be more specific, analytics is just statistics.

People who do statistics are referred to as statisticians. They’re particularly concerned with determining how to draw reliable conclusions about large groups and general events from the behavior and other observable characteristics of small samples. These small samples represent a portion of the large group or a limited number of instances of a general phenomenon.
    Key Takeaways

    • Statistics is the study and manipulation of data, including ways to gather, review, analyze, and draw conclusions from data.
    • The two major areas of statistics are descriptive and inferential statistics.
    • Statistics can be communicated at different levels ranging from non-numerical descriptor (nominal-level) to numerical in reference to a zero-point (ratio-level).
    • Several sampling techniques can be used to compile statistical data, including simple random, systematic, stratified, or cluster sampling.
    • Statistics are present in almost every department of every company and are an integral part of investing.

But it is also a bit of opinion as well as statisticians use the data collected to analyze and draw probable conclusions. Which is the opinion part as drawing g your own conclusions is perspective and generally largely ones opinion.

The hiccups that come with his questionable coaching decisions. We should have won the Tennessee game going away, yet we had some coaching mistakes that led to a loss. The lack of a killer instinct in play-calling and going for the throat.

If, and that is a big if, he hires an OC to revamp the passing game and stays hands off, then I would begrudgingly be ok with him getting another year. With him as our OC, I don’t see the offense being explosive enough to win the games we need to win to take the next step.

Thats how they predict stuff like elections and get it so completely wrong as its not really math when you combine numbers, deduction and opinions. Thats short bus math.
