Can they really afford to bump Kiffin up to $12-13mil if it becomes a bidding war?

I gave this some thought and I honestly don't know. There are still major changes coming. To allude to another post/thread, I think you have to start taking more of an NFL approach to the whole thing with talent acquisition separate from actual coaching (with obvious input and cooperation from the latter).

Again, like European soccer, they'll just pile up the debt (teams owned by Gulf States notwithstanding). Maybe PIF is the answer. Joking. . . but not really.

Why would anyone fire their coach so that they could hire a guy who is 6-9 at his current job, or a guy who has never been a head coach, or the coach at Liberty?

As long as he's not called a General Manager, I'll listen. I've been saying for years that we need a separate football only AD... that takes care of all the logistics and player stuff so that if we fire a coach, the team and players stay together. Years... before the NIL and Transfer Portal.

Job 1: Find a new AD. I do not want SS even remotely involved in making the next choice. We need a strong AD to lead the search and install his/her guy. If it were up to me, the first person I'd call is Mike Hill at Charlotte. He's put in his time at Charlotte to prove that he can be the top dog. He's done really well there. He knows UF and worked for Foley. IMO, he'd be a great candidate. No matter what, we're not going to hire another HBC until the dust settles on this season anyway, so we can afford to lose with Napier for a while instead of losing with some interim guy.

Job 2: Act like you're a blue blood and make a strong hire. Maybe Kiffin isn't interested. OK, on to the next big name. But don't settle. If you get turned down by all the home run hires, go to the boosters, squeeze some more money then try again. I honestly thought Mullen was the right hire at the time. Meyer was the IT guy. Zook, Muschamp, McElwain and Napier were all long shots. We've tried to catch lightning in a bottle too many times. It hasn't worked out.

Job 3: Give whoever you hire whatever they need to succeed. I think we're on track for that, but without a strong commitment to compete, we'll never climb back up the hill.

Here’s a name I haven’t seen mentioned and I would 1000-% take him in a heartbeat - Dave Clausen and the CLAWFENSE. This dude perpetually does more with less, run an interesting offense with plenty of run, pass balance… Turns out quarterbacks… Turns three stars into five stars… This is the kind of guy Florida would easily win nine or 10 games a year with proper support. I think we have now learned through Muschamp and Napier that we are never going to win With the “let’s get a bunch of five stars and bully our way to victory “situation around here. The academics at Florida, the fact that boosters are willing to pony up $26 million to buy out a coach but not for NIL, fact that UAA is so soft on NIL, or scared of NIL, the fact that the administration is much more concerned with the all sports trophy than they are playing with the big boys like Ohio State and Alabama and Georgia… We have now proven time again that that route is not going to work here and you need a guy that can give you an advantage Schematically and I think Clawson fits to this

Can’t blame him. About the only time you’ll catch me smiling for the cameras is when I’m hanging out with one of, or both of, my nieces.

And many coaches who have higher aspirations aren’t going to sign for 10 wins being the ultimate goal. Kiff would stay where he is.

I haven't seen it posted anywhere else, but after seeing Norvell's buyout ($65m), it could be worse..
