Isn’t the UF admin is forcing our staff to play from behind excuse going to get old? If we were members of a rival’s board they probably laugh at the UF fans that think we are losing because, A) our ivory tower admin restricts our staff’s effectiveness, and B) our staff refuses to make bad(lucrative) NIL deals. There are 20 schools ahead of us that don’t seem to have those issues but somehow our Administration forced out staff to be clean and the more successful universities, we are to believe, have administrations that allow their staffs to recruit in improper, if not illegal, ways. Hard to buy that.
Outside of what we have to believe on this board, is there any real evidence that all the schools out recruiting us are “cheating”?
Do you think it is a coincidence that scUM and TexAss are suddenly recruiting higher than usual? It's $$$$$, just like Texas A&M did last year. The NIL was supposed to be so the players could make some $$ off their contributions and likeness, NOT NFL Pay for Play BS!
I based my comments on the following "facts" as generally recognized by various sources: 1. It is my less than perfect understanding that state law prohibits FL schools from participating (either directly or indirectly) in negotiations, contracts, or cash inducements of any kind, prior to enrolling the student for classes. The nice folks at scUM seem to be trampling that little impediment like ten thousand rage-crazed buffaloes. 2. The NIL "rule" that was so haphazardly thrown together by the geniuses who created this cosmic crapfest in the first place, DOES NOT give the green light to "buying" players, despite the extremely aggressive interpretation that the "murderer's row" of CFB has decided to apply to it. 3. I'm not saying that UF is perfect. But CBN, the administration, AND its army of lawyers seem to be of one mind in their assessment of the methods being employed by the sleeze meisters down south. It's currently illegal, a violation of the letter and spirit of what passes for NCAA guidelines, generally unethical and we just ain't gonna do it. Period. It can be called cheating (I certainly do) or just an acknowledgement of the fact that the university considers this BS to be beneath its dignity/standards of conduct and it just isn't going to happen under the current circumstances. Nor IMO, should it.
I wouldn't use Texas. They've had great recruiting classes. What they're doing this cycle isn't anything out of the norm
I would have thought that there was ample evidence out there of the rampant “extra benefits” being provided in the last decade or so. Apparently not.
Is every school in front of us breaking rules and circumventing laws or is part of it that we are not recruiting so well, yet? Tennessee, Bama, georgia, Arkansas, LSU, all breaking the rules? I realize the best excuse we have for Alabama’s consistently good recruiting is “$$$ bagmen”. But all the above SEC schools are cheating? At some point it does look like sour grapes. FSU recently landed two prominent Florida OL. There has to be elements of recruiting skill that our staff has not quite mastered. It can’t all be that we are above the fray but the others are just cheating. That was our mantra before NIL, as well.
No. Nothing will ever be proven. Tell yourself whatever you want. I’m gonna check these boards and find the posters I trust.
there’s not just one thing. Every situation is different. Tennessee just got hit with 18 major infractions? Shouldn’t that tell you that stuff happens? No one masters the skill of recruiting. You have to sell. But there are many different ways to sell. You mentioned fsu…they are said to have a very likable OL coach. No one knows if he is actually a good coach. There isn’t a magic link you keep expecting.
Don’t be naive. What are you using as your basis? A team with 25 3* commits? Is that what you consider above us? And what are you gonna say after this weekend?
Conversely, you can stay here and believe what makes you feel better. But I challenge you to go to a rival’s board(georgia, fsu, scUM, alabama, Tennessee) and announce your belief that we are above them in our process and that the reason they are recruiting well is that they break rules and laws. You’ll be laughed off their board.
I won’t have to say anything after this weekend. Why on earth would you think I owe you some kind of contrition? face palms are for crybabies, by the way.
My problem is that with all the spare time I have on my hands since retiring, I'm having an increasingly difficult time separating the two. C'est la vie - well, for this old fart anyway.
