I'm with you. We have the trophy to prove it. Would've been NCs as well had we had the opportunity. That was a great team that held it together thru a hell of a lot of adversity to start the season. Still my favorite Gators team of all time. I remember at the end of the season Jim Walden the coach at Washington State when asked who he thought the best team was said, "I don't know who the best team is, but Florida is the team no one wants to play." Just looked it up and not only did he say that about the 1984 team, he was the only voter out of 113 voters that voted for Florida over Ohio State in the final regular season Harris Poll in 2006. We know how that turned out.

I think our record is an accurate reflection of our talent. I believe we are more talented than Vandy and that’s about it. When I was at the Utah game I noted to my wife how un-athletic our defense looked on the sidelines. Des Watson does not look like a p5 football player and he starts.

 

True about Des but he's an exception. There are few, if any, 380lb athletic looking people in the world. Regardless of mullen's poor overall recruiting, I would have thought we could field a one deep that could play with anyone. I guess not? Another odd thing is that in two cycles under mullen we recruited 15 DBs and of course some since those two cycles. But we still don't seem to have a solid starting DB unit. I realize our front seven does not help our secondary. But with 15 DBs on roster, surely we can find a few that can cover like glue. Guess not.

Absolutely. I had a girlfriend who wanted me to meet her family and gave me the time to meet, 7pm. About 6:30 she calls me all pissed off because I was late, and said I was supposed to be there at 6. I said, "You told me 7." Her response was that I should've known. How do you argue with that kind of thinking. I didn't know her family. I didn't make the arrangements, but somehow I should've known when to be there, even though she told me a different time.

 

I remember at the time that Don James at Washington didn't think we should be considered for the NC, because we cheated. Little did we know, but a few years later we found out he had been doing the same thing. The hypocrisy...

I’m never all in on anyone. I support whoever is a gator and give them the benefit of the doubt though until proven otherwise. I’m fully behind Napier just like I was with Mullen. Mullen proved to need to be fired into another galaxy though.

 

Muschamp figured them out pretty well too when he was at Auburn.

Not to lose sight of the fact that when Cox left Georgia he said it just didn't work out between him and Coach Smart. So, this is the second coach that it just didn't work out with.

 

I remember the incident and Spurrier saying they were kicked off the team for embarrassing the Gators. I never heard about the knife/glass fight. Wow, surprised neither one of them ended up in jail.
