As I recall, the camp for keeping Mullen for yet another season had dwindled to a couple of ragged pup tents and a campfire that couldn't have been any colder if 99.9% of Gator Nation had taken a collective whiz on it. And as for Mullen's coaching; as a HEAD COACH, he hired and then retained the worst DC in UF history far beyond the point of no return. For four years he orchestrated a phenomenally inept, generally slipshod recruiting operation that was remarkable only for poor talent evaluation and a ridiculous number of non-qualifiers. And then he topped of his reign as the clown prince of Gator Land with a flourish when he totally checked out after the KY game in the early going of his final season - in a stunning display of fecklessness and irresponsibility. Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?

Ok. I am in camp to give Napier at least four years.

His army of assistants did nothing regarding to half time adjustment, agreed?

I want to see that he is different from Mullen in that he could make hard staff changes, fair?

Don't believe Napier's offense is a scoring machine. We'll see. But until that is the case we need a really stout, smothering defense. We don't that obviously and not sure Toney can produce it, even with a talent upgrade. That's my concern.

    Thanks for asking...
    Naw... too old.
Kentucky player cracked back on me and screwed up my knee. Still bad to this day.
And I broke both ankles, so I can't cut any more, etc.

UF is a charter member of the SEC - founded in 1932 and we were part of it. We won our first ‘official’ SEC Championship in 1991 — 59 years later. You damn straight many of us have been through worse. We’ve also learned to appreciate that conference and national championships are not entitlements. You don’t get them because you’ve waited so long, or because it’s been 14 years since we last won one. There are a hell of a lot of storied programs that haven’t won a championship in far longer than we’ve been waiting.

We need stability and patience. Yes we can point at a few rare examples of making it happen quickly, but those programs were always stocked when the new guy walked in the door (Spurrier, Meyer). We aren’t stocked — hell we’re the opposite of stocked. It’s going to take anybody time to put this program back at the top. Time, not impatience. Get behind our guy and our team and appreciate what it takes to do it.

    Go Gators

    And Napier does?
    I like quantifiable results.
Getting canned as OC at Clemson is a negative in most people’s books.

Didn’t say Napier did. But he’s the guy now. Mullen isn’t. It’s okay to move and get over it.

You don't like quantifiable results, because there are very few of those halfway into year one. You like arguing.

So because I’m not rah rah over a guy without much of a standout resume (other than being on Saban’s staff) I’m the one who is moronic(quoting another poster)? Okay.

I don’t think being critical of very specific things is “full on bashing”. Some of the 2 minute drill/clock management calls are really troublesome.

Funny you and I agree he needs a OC and Toney needs to change. So you’re seeing exactly what I’m seeing.

Not a CBN basher but many comments here suggest that Mullen left the Gators roster a dumpster fire. The data do not quite reflect that. The average SEC champion in last five years has a starting lineup loaded with blue-chip (four or five-star) players. On average, 18.85 out of 22 starters for the SEC Champion are blue-chip players. The SEC Champions.
Florida, by comparison, has 16 blue-chip starters. So granted, not Championship caliber but at least competitive or better than several SEC teams. Some would conclude that with appropriate coaching, better scheme to mesh with talent- and more creative game-day play calling and adjustments- one would expect better than 1-4 at this stage with 2-6 a distinct possibility.
