I’m sure they won’t. And neither will we enjoy the retaliatory tariffs.

Will you enjoy the higher prices?

I won't notice them due to the relatively insignificant volume of Columbian imports.

    But I'm sure you'll whine.

Hmm, so it sounds like tariffs wouldn't matter much then. But I'm sure you never complained about the price of weekly grocery purchases, like coffee, for example.

I don’t drink coffee so doesn’t matter to me. What else must we get from them?

Oil, gold, and tropical plants. I'm sure that nobody has ever complained about higher gas prices.

We can live without tropical plants. I can’t remember the last time I had to go without gold because of the price. Gas is problematic though. If only there were other sources for gas.

Yeah, I forget, when you cut the supply of something, what happens to the price without a cut in demand?

Alternatively, we could live with immigrants lowering the price of services by filling labor during labor shortages. But I guess we can increase prices to make sure that we increase other prices.

There are two ways that Columbia can retaliate against the U.S. They could raise tariffs on imports from the U.S., or they could turn a blind eye to smuggling of cocaine that is headed towards the U.S. If they did the latter, it would undo decades of economic cooperation between the two countries. Most Trump fans are probably not aware of the fact that the U.S. made Columbia the preferred supplier of flowers to the U.S. a couple decades ago, cutting the Netherlands out of a lot of income. This was done to give Columbia some legitimate agriculture to base their economy on. Only Trump could be this stupid.

If they suddenly increase the supply of cocaine to the U.S., you might not think you will be affected. Until your neighbor down the street becomes a dealer and the shootouts start.
