We went to SECCG that year. Also cold … forgot about the fog. Unpopular opinion- The gator bowl is equal parts reward and punishment
That UF/Iowa game was the coldest Gator game I’ve ever been to matched only by our 1980 Peach Bowl against WV. Both games - I’ve never been colder in my life. “Wes Chandler was Percy Harvin before Percy Harvin was born.”
Guys the Gator Bowl in 83 was played after a historic cold front came through. Like killing Citrus groves cold. It was my first year as a Gator and remember the game well. The odds of a similar game this year are quite low.
Was hoping to play Nebraska, but have a suspicion now that we get Michigan. Just a guess. Not my favorite matchup, but it's nice that they are going to a bowl game.
Back then I sat at the top of the stadium, brought paper bags to put my feet in for warmth and some jack Daniel’s for my Coke. Stayed warm. Great W for the Gators.
I was st the NC State game with my then GF, we were up high and couldn’t see shit. Opposite side down low could see and we had to follow their cheers to have a clue what was happening
CFN with their new prediction: Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl Friday, December 20 3:30, ESPN Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, FL Bowl Affiliations: AAC, ACC, CUSA, SEC Last Season: Georgia Tech 30, UCF 17 Bowl Projection: North Carolina vs Florida Last Week: USF vs Florida
I like this better than having to play Michigan again. I want to win this game to close out with 8 wins. My first choice is if we could somehow snag Colorado. G.T. would be a dog fight, but would probably be a fun game as well.
Yep, 8 wins as a springboard into next season. Recruit, work the portal and compete for some hardware.
The only buzz kill playing UNC is they are HC-less. Not sure we gain anything and could lose a lot. But I definitely prefer a Tampa game.
