For sure, just gotta beat FSU. By far more than we ever would have expected 3 weeks ago. HUGE difference between Gator and Gasparilla. With Gasparilla, we would only get about seven or eight practices at most based on the December 20 date of game.
I like Duke matchup too. After they beat Wake Forest this weekend that will be a 9 win ranked team. ACC vs SEC and a very winnable game.
Yes, but eight wins against the schedule and 4 wins to end the year. Sure would boost our credibility.
If you listened to CBN’s presser, he said we would get nowhere close to fifteen additional practices no matter who we played.
The Gator Bowl is Thursday night January 2nd at 7.30. It is the only bowl game that day or probably the only football game of any kind. We would have the spotlight- moreso than the typical minor bowl game. Winning this game, after the horrific start, would give the program unbelievable momentum heading into the offseason. Obviously- we have to beat the Crims first. But if we do, and could get the Gator Bowl, it would be quite sweet.
Didn’t listen to presser. But any bowl would be more than a Dec. 20 bowl relative to number of practices. No reason for a Jan. 2 bowl not to get at least 10-12 practices. 6-7 before Christmas and another 5-6 after. Has been done many many times before.
But we're 3-2 against Duke and embarrassingly 9-23-6 against Ga Tech, 0-2 against Nebraska and 1-4 versus Michigan. How about playing more of the latter schools that are currently down versus Duke whose mostly known for basketball? It sure looks better if we lose too.
Historically they like to do that to SEC teams, often the SEC team with the worse record beats that team with the “better” record.
Yep WVU came in with one loss and ran their mouths about how they should be playing for a MnC and not stuck playing UF. After a beat down of epic proportions the WVU coach said something to the effect of “I guess we weren’t that good after all”.
there is this misconception at the “extra practices” will help this team or any other The extra practice help the Tallahassee team last year get ready for this year. How about Michigan? Kentucky? it sounds good in theory, but not sure in reality that it helps one bit
He was saying he has no intention of using 15 practices, regardless of how many they could have. “We will not practice 15 more times, I promise you that. We just have more access to the players now than we used to...It's more of a reward for the players...Just in general you try to pair the workload, I mean these guys have been grinding. It's not like it used to be. We will build a schedule that's about getting healthy, lifting weights, working on fundamentals. I just don't think 15 practices – if I told our guys we were going to practice 15 times for one game, I just don't know.”
Their fans were cool though. At least in my experience there. I remover being on a trolly and some older gator woman got on, there were no seats. A WVU guy got up from his, she said thanks. and the quote I roughly remember was “my mom would never forgive me if I didn’t”. Just good Appalachian folk.
