I really don't care which bowl, what this does is give Lag and young players more practice time for next year. I could be wrong but I really doubt BN is going to hire an OC, I think he believes he's really good at this, and knows he has a diamond in Lag who will make him look really good. I'm not sure we will see any coaching changes unless anyone of our coaches is poached by another team.

I'd like to see a game like the 94 sugar bowl beat down of wvu 41-17. I bet Studstill's bell is still ringing.
Yep! Monty Grow smacked him so hard his helmet was backwards. That game was extra sweet because they came in making comments about us being “a soft finesse team”. We manhandled them. Also, they had beaten us in the Peach Bowl 26-6 in 1981. I remember that game and it was embarrassing. We just didn’t show up.
Judging by CFN's rankings we sure do. Let's see how they deal with Iowa. #16 Florida (6-5) Last Week Rank: 39 Florida 24, Ole Miss 17 Up Next: at Florida State #47 Nebraska (6-5) Last Week Rank: 50 Nebraska 44, Wisconsin 25 Up Next: at Iowa (Fri)
Been a long time since teams from same conference were paired against each other in a bowl game not connected with playoff. Vandy beat Auburn in the Gator Bowl in 1955 according to Wikipedia. That was 1955 and I’m pretty sure there were more after that. Seems like we played Ole Miss in a Gator Bowl game one year. Personally, I would rather have an out of conference opponent in a bowl game.
If I remember correctly Monty was suspended by the SEC or NCAA at the beginning of the year? I don’t remember the details. He acquired an attorney and received a court decision that said he could play. Pretty much an injunction against whoever suspended him. Anyone remember that and if so what was the issue?
CBS SPORTS (Jerry Palm) Gasparilla Bowl: West Virginia vs. Florida Location: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, Fla. When: Dec. 20 411: West Virginia is 6-5 overall, 5-3 in the Big 12 after beating UCF 31-21 on Saturday. The Mountaineers play 7-4 Texas Tech in their regular-season finale. The Gators last played West Virginia in the Sugar Bowl after the 1993 season and beat the 11-0 Mountaineers 41-7.
The selection committee won't pit a conference team against itself with so many other choices these days. The pain and embarrassment of a bowl loss would last for a millennium in the south.
Don’t know how I forgot that one. I was there. Graves last game as Gator head coach and he beat our incoming head coach Doug, “not so tricky “ Dickey. We won 14-13.
