Sure if we aren't running two tight end sets and using a pass catching tight end as a blocker on the teams best pass rusher...
My buddy damn near got killed by a drone about 150 miles offshore a couple months ago. They patched him up over the phone with the hospital and he sat there for three more days before he went to the hospital. He said there’s no way they’re stopping the tournament to take him to the hospital
#1 in completion % only 3ints all season 5th in QBR behind Jayden Daniels, Carson Beck, Jaden Milroe, Jaxson Dart He was pretty darn good last year, if not excellent. Then again, he benefitted from having the best Oline in the SEC, right?
Wondering about that, is the dink and dunk by napier design and Mertz is just doing what he's told? And I got the feeling those long passes that Lagway hit were designed to go to someone else 8 yards up field. Napier keeps harping on the fact that we don't get many explosives (his word) but I'm not sure his offense is designed to get explosives. At least it looks that way from the past 3 years.
I strongly agree with the first part of your post and the observation about DJ having zero chance of starting if GM is cleared to play. But dismissing the role of a very poor QB performance by the starter as a non-factor in the scUM fiasco is a bridge too far for me. And IMHO, the subpar D is just another compelling reason to commit to the quest for big play after big play - if we are to have any shot at winning a few games this season. The real question for me is will DJ get meaningful snaps even if/when the game gets out of hand? Presuming that GM can avoid further injury, I frankly expect that DJ could see little if any significant action anytime time soon - no matter what.
IIRC, Shane was suspended & redshirted ... but he went from 5th string to 2x SEC Offensive Player of the Year ..
Pure conjecture on their part trying to read between the lines. Click bait? Absolutely.....Fake News? It was their opinion that they stated as fact.
Yeah it is hard to believe we won that game with 27 passing yards. The fake FG with the Dentist changed the game IMO. That & 418!!! rushing yards!
Mertz is a good/decent SEC QB and an excellent young man who would have made a fine game manager for Saban before Bama's transformation to a more aggressive, more explosive passing game. In the here and now, settling for "average at best arm strength," limited mobility, and a consistent lack of "explosives" is the fast lane to more of the same. It would also be widely perceived as a clear-cut case of SS-DD by fans and media alike - not to mention a lost opportunity to bring DJ along as quickly as his enormous talent will permit. Personally, IMHO, not transitioning ASAP to a generational talent who could conceivably bring about a significant turnaround in our fortunes (given adequate playing time and patience with some rookie mistakes) would be a potentially catastrophic blunder on every level. JMHO.
Not opposed to it the biggest draw back would be god forbid something happens to DJ then you’re down to qb3 for the rest of the game
