So your thought is that Democrats shouldn't criticize any Republican because of Fetterman. And that means Republicans shouldn't criticize any Democrat because of Greene or Boebert?

I think ag is referring to someone else, a person who may have suffered from a head injury or who has a neurological disorder.

Can't get 3 replies into any thread about anything that "you guys" don't bring up comparison to Trump. I guess the shoe doesn't fit on the other foot.
It's kind of stupid all this whataboutism don't you think?
Want it to stop? Then stop doing it!!!

Although my initial reaction was based on the tendency of righties to suggest that Biden is cognitively impaired you're probably right, he was most likely referring to a certain senator who suffered from a stroke.

Heh? You raised the whataboutism, railing about a stroke victim nonetheless.

No question that both sides do the whataboutism way too much. But my question was about your post. Which you didn't answer, of course. Instead, you defended your whataboutism by saying the left does it too.
    Any sense of irony there?

Again, want to answer my question or just go with "yeah, well Democrats ....?"

It’s really easy to be pulled along day by day and judge events based on the recent past, but we should indeed take and occasional step back to look at the longer term pattern. Not to say that there wasn’t some grade A BS occurring at the time of founding, but just 20 years ago, there is no way I could have imagined a) anyone saying that on the floor of congress, and b) them not being immediately recalled. It’s amazing and regrettable how normal this kind of event feels today.

I imagine there have always been extremists and flakes in Congress. But MTG is a good example of where I think we've come in a pretty short time. She's a legitimate power player and from what I understand, one of the top fundraisers in Congress. Even assuming half of the nuttier things she's said was part of a calculated ploy to gain attention and influence, it's just as telling and concerning that there's such a demand for her shtick in the first place.

Nail meet Hammer!!! This is exactly right; it is very concerning that there is a demand for her kind of politics. This did not happen overnight, and I'm concerned it is not going to get any better. When both parties do things like Trump, Biden, Fetterman, MTG both parties keep trying to one up with more outrageous demeanor from its leaders. Not putting blame on either side but both sides!!! Until both sides recognize that they are the different side of the same coin it won't change. When the left dismisses the rights concern about big tech censorship of the right, The Big O claiming elections have consequences so back of the bus for you, the entire Clinton created Russia fiasco it won't stop. The right not recognizing that all out ban on abortion is not where the country is. Until we quit letting the fringes speak for us, we will continue to elect what we have.
This board is a perfect example. There is a handful of both left and right leaners that have some good dialog, but it doesn't last long before the bomb droppers swoop in. I'll admit I drop a bomb or two but usually after being pushed into it in a response. Sadly, the worst bomb droppers on this site most likely believe they are just more intellectual or enlightened and need to tell the rest of us lemmings how to think. Well......... Thank you for being the reason we are where we are!!

I appreciate your overall sentiments, but while I concede that there are nuts and flame throwers on both sides, I don't think acknowledging that means both sides are equally dysfunctional right now taken as a whole and given who's in leadership.

Biden was a gaffe machine before, and it's getting worse with age. But I don't equate him with Trump for lots of reasons. Fetterman had a stroke days before that primary election and was running against a horrible opponent in the general who, like Trump, was a tv celebrity who'd never held any elected office. I don't think Trump or MTG are suffering from any medically-induced cognitive challenges; they are features, not bugs - apparently what most Republicans want in their leaders. The fact that Democrats are luke-warm on Biden at best is reflected by the fact that so many Republicans argue that Biden couldn't have won the election because he doesn't draw large crowds of fans and doesn't sell a lot of hats.

Thanks, THIS is the kind of dialog that can move the needle. Even though I don't agree totally with you, I agree with your premise and don't take what you said as a personnel attack on my intelligence which happens so often here with many posters if you don't toe the line of their thought.

Also in all seriousness I suspect that Trump's current wife is waiting for him to be reunited with his first wife.
