It’s difficult to grow up in a troubled home and the kid is already a father. Lauren Boebert’s son called 911, accusing father of “throwing” him around the house
Pretty much every person I know that has struggles like this in life grew up in a broken home. My best friend, deceased at age 30, grew up without a dad and forever chased that void with drugs. Wish I could have helped him more.
I’m sure that was hell to watch. Given the number of screwed up homes, I’m surprised that jail and homeless camps aren’t even more full.
Honestly, at the time I was so caught up in my own 20s I didn't realize how bad it had gotten. Plus he had moved away. Most of the circle of friends he was running with at the time are either dead or in jail, all from broken homes as well. The politics of these types of stories don't change the solemnity of their nature. It's just sad all around.
Boys. Too many of them spend too much time trying to screw up their lives and then realize it way too late.
This probably should not even be national news. While it is not an excuse for criminal behavior, with his horrific parental figures, he never had a chance.
Incredibly compassionate post. My 18 is adopted. Never knew her bio dad and her bio mom is a complete disaster that isn’t satisfied with leading a horrendous life for herself but determined to sabotage and tear down any and all progress I have made with my daughter. Broken homes are devastating to kids and sadly not their fault. My heart goes out to your friend and also to you for being a good friend. On a positive note mine appears to be enrolling in Santa Fe this summer and really wants to graduate from UF like her dad
I've said several times here that a child's home life is the best predictor of what kind of person he or she will become.
Profound stuff from you and channing. Life can deal some hard cards at times my fellow Gators. To channing I would say you are not alone in losing persons you care about through addiction. To Atlanta - Great job with your daughter. It's damn tough to have someone that is hell bent on doling out pain and destruction because of their own issues. It's not easy sharing these stories. Just know fellow Gators are on your side!
Hope he figures it out, sad to see someone ruin their life. But there’s more than enough to attack Boebert on without using her kid’s troubles as a proxy.
Back to the thread - Just looking at pictures of Lauren offend me. Her public persona is in your face MAGA crap to the max. Screaming at Biden and acting like a kindergartner during the State of the Union is disrespectful. Even Trump deserves respect in that setting. I would LOVE to hear LACUNA break Lauren down for us (I believe Lacuna lives in her district). ANYWAY - As a new dad and with a mom like Boebert I find no reward reading about her sons troubles. As mentioned young Mr. Boebert may be 'acting out" due to mentoring. I don't know. I suspect it's very hard as a young adult male to deal with the attention associated with his mom and her behavior.
To a degree. Indisputably a broken home certainly increases poor outcomes, however, good homes don't guarantee good results. Sadly, if it were just that easy. Especially with boys.
I don’t like blaming parents for kid’s misdeeds, but this is probably the perfect scenario to raise pos kids. At least some % of kids with junkie parents might look at that and say to themselves “I never want to end up like that”. But this one I’m sure had a somewhat entitled life. That’s sort of a worst case scenario imo, entitlement + scumbag parents who obviously had zero moral compass.
