    I don't know that, you don't either.

Unless there is a bad guy in the apartment who wants to shoot a cop. I would not be standing directly in front of the door if I was a LEO in a situation like that.

You are in a position to tell us if you would have prosecuted the cop here, based off what you have read about this, what do you think? Would you clear the shooting? The rest of us are making entirely reasonable assumptions based off how most police shootings play out.

Good post. It is definitely within his and our right to have a firearm by the side when opening the door to your home. Stepping out of a doorway with it is another story. You don’t need to step back either when a cop says so, buuut apparently this may cost you your life if you don’t comply. This stuff makes me sick. I love guns but nothing in this situation required overwhelming force to resolve.

Thanks. He never made it to his doorway, though.

Seems like a quite a paradox that the right to bear arms supposedly was meant, in part, to protect citizens from overbearing authority figures, and today's overbearing authority figures are trained to shoot on sight anyone they see bearing arms.

This is the same office where the guy said "Shorts fired!!" when it turns out there were just acorns falling from a tree.

Didn’t one officer in that situation also claim to be hit by a gunshot?

It’s not war but I think this is what Clausewitz meant by the fog of war.

Any time I have a gun and I’m involved with an officer I verbally let them know. In this case I would not have opened the door and told the officer to show me his id for entry or get a search warrant. I would put it in my waist line behind me then advise once I thought it was a real cop. Unfortunately people don’t do that.

This kid didn’t deserve to die. Maybe officers need to ask if the person inside is armed? And have a conversation about entry without gun play.

You are well versed in police-civilian interaction, so it makes sense that you would have taken the best-practice course of action. Most people would open the door for police no questions asked because they don't want to get in trouble. I think the overcharging phenomenon makes things worse and scares people. We almost always give up our rights to avoid getting slapped with resisting arrest or some other trumped up charge that many police use to secure a conviction or justify escalation.

That vid is just bizarre and, I think, is not the intended result that OP was looking for. Don’t fret though. He’ll continue to look, steadfastly

I think the OP showed an unnecessary death caused by overzealous policing, but also highlights that current police procedures conflict with Florida's interpretation of the 2A laws. I'm not sure what other intended result you are alluding to, but I think this was focused squarely on police-civilian interaction and no other narratives... unless you have something different that you would like to share with us.

The fact that the same guy posts non stop how much he hates police. Surely you’ve noticed this pattern. And I didn’t call you Shirley.

Answer the question. Instead of focusing on OP and his posting history, discuss the topic. What happened to the airman?

He came out with a gun. Bad situation that ended badly. I’m sure you’ll lurk the web for new ones tomorrow.

If by crying you mean starting constant whiny threads, then no. That’s your MO

You have zero issue with posters who start multiple tranny threads or multiple Biden threads, so you should have no problem with multiple police threads.

    Dismissed!
