I have no idea what was inside the young man's head as far as making a decision as to which school to transfer to through the portal. What I do know is there was more to his departure than him just making up his mind to transfer. Furthermore, Coach Woodruff at Tennessee coaches players very differently than Coach Shelton. Blaise has no idea what he is getting himself into this spring! As we all know there are consequences to ones decisions.

Gators Impress at M15 Naples Tournament - Florida Gators

Lots of great info in this article, especially the last paragraph. Also interesting that Bruno Kuzuhara has played doubles with multiple Gators in tournaments while still in high school. Not sure if he is jumping straight to the pro's but would love to see him in O&B.

It is tough with only 4.5 scholarships in men’s tennis. Sometimes a player wants to come to Florida but another big time program has more money available. However with Bright Futures state academic scholarships we have a great chance with instate recruits. We don’t have to dip into that 4.5 pot of tennis athletic scholarship so deeply. All things being considered ideally look for four signees.

In the Vero ATP M15 tournament today Ben Shelton beat Blaise Bicknell, in the second round 3-6, 6-1, 6-2

I don’t know about turning pro but I can tell you Bicknell had a Tennessee shirt on for the match.

Bicknell actually has three years of eligibility left counting this year as one of the three. Due to the covid year he lost. Most I talk to don't think he will stay in school that long, but who really knows.
