Liking immigration to slavery has been coming up a lot lately. It must be floating around right wing blogosphere
Apparently, the Trump admin argued in court today that a pre-amendment law should govern the court's interpretation of the 14th Amendment, that law made Native Americans excluded from Birth Right citizenship ... I can't imagine anything so stupid. "Excluding Indians": Trump admin questions Native Americans' birthright citizenship in court
Really stupid. Native Americans were originally excluded from the 14th Amendment. But the Amendment did specify all others born in the US would be citizens; not just slaves. Then, in 1924, the Indian Citizenship Act made all Native Americans citizens and covered under the 14th. Trump's legal argument is incredibly silly. And the SCOTUS already heard these arguments in 1898 with Wong Kim Ark.
Let's see what his toadies on the current court say. Plues the Andrew Jackson things about " let's see them enforce it" if the court rules against the emperor. #noguardrails
This is going to lose at the SCOTUS and is a waste of time and resources for a new Admin that has a lot to do on their stated agenda.
