Do you have a way out? Or are you part of the problem albeit in a small way

 

Ive said it a million times that CBN will be the coach at the start of 2025. It would be disaster to let him go this year. There is a LOT of coaching and athletic potential on this team. For whatever reason, it has not translated into wins. He is a nice and gentle guy. Very little ego and Im sure the kids and parents adore him. There is a lot to like. I just wish the end result was different. Weve seen this movie before with the coaches we have churned out...I hope his fate is different. Frustrated.

 

I guess I’d have to subscribe to read. Kept trying to bypass, no luck. Not sure if I want to - probably ruin my day!

We've had some players not bought in. I hope it will be settled in the fall. Also some staff issues. I hope will be settled in the fall.

It is time to win the ones we should and a couple we shouldn't.

 

Not according to the internet and Napier yesterday said it's in progress. Football scoop had an article mentioning 3 candidates. I hope we get a crazy one who's a good leader. Knowledgeable with hair on fire.

 

Agreed and the issues have been different. The rebuild is challenging for many reasons. The NIL, portal and some bad coaching hires has made it hard to expect a quick rebuild. I think progress is being made and Napier will show improvement. Year 1 to year 2 did not have continuity in QB, lost tge entire OL,DL, new DC etc…too many things to overcome. This year we have QB returning, some skill returning and an improved OL. The D cannot get worse. I think Napier will hit the portal hard for some skill and D talent and we should be better.

 

I thought defense couldn’t get worse than Grantham days but it did, sadly. So there is no such thing as couldn’t get worse.

We have not signed any big time transfer this cycle in the portal yet, I am still waiting.

 

Slackman is a difference maker.

 

Maybe or maybe not, IVY vs SEC competition.

 

Rebuild process if done correctly is not nearly as challenging as it was just three years ago.
FLA State figured it out via portal as did TCU last year. Ole Miss, Washington, Mizzu, have all managed to better themselves. I am sure there are others. Agree on continuity of QB being super important. Also while projecting OL, DL being "better" (God I hope), it is exactly only that, hope. Also have to evaluate every other team we are facing next year. Each likely in some facets will all be better as well due to portal activity, HS recruiting etc.

If you’re recruiting poorly, you have to have more success on the field than expected. For a while, Napier bought some time by selling the notion things would change when his recruits joined the program. Lagway and the rest of this class would come in and save the day.”

Pretty much sums it up.

 

It was a take down. I think the biggest take away was that disaster recruiting of Rashada and how all of that at the end of Year 1 has cast a shadow that CBN hasnt emerged from. Also, we are nowhere better than where Mullen left us at was the other conclusion. He is going to have to go 4-1 to start 2024 to put some people at bay.

 

Was able to get access through the help of a regular on here (who is obviously much smarter than me!). It was brutal but well written.
Gotta beat Miami. That’s a must.

 

If you use an ad block type program some of them have element zappers that will delete certain types of paywall popups. I was able to zap the popup on this article to be able to read the entire thing.

 

It didn't appear that the writer was that critical of Napier, but just wonders how a coach that appears to "get it" in all respects hasn't been successful. He did touch on one item that makes sense: the Jaden Rashada debacle. It made me start wondering if all the stories about $13M may have had a modicum of substance to them. Lagway has been so rock solid from the get go, it makes one wonder if perhaps we didn't load up the Brinks truck with so much money to him, it left us bereft of funds that may have been used to fend off suitors for some of our other highly thought of commitments.

 

That was a depressing read, but pretty accurate.
