I'm not too thrilled about acting like he didn't know what the questioner was asking about the DL and DB commitment losses...that's disingenuous. However, I didn't mind him not talking about the commitments that bailed. Spurrier never would talk about them. He would be completely dismissive of the question (and it was always asked) and say "We're here to talk about the players that wanted to be Gators today."
I think he was just making the point that all the decommitments happened before those coaches were fired. He also pointed out that the Filsaime flip was actually in the works well before it happened. The writer made it sound like happened due to the coaches leaving.
He alluded to a new approach in S&C. Current coach going 'upstairs' in a new direction. Much needed in my opinion, further upgrading the coaching staff.
I am really disappointed about his s c coach hire. We had nick savage who was good and loved by the players. The players lobbied for him to retain savage. No he had to hire his buddy. Well at least he owned up to it but the damage was done.
Hostile press conference. Became super defensive. Its clear as day, that the day did not go as envisioned. Why would any athlete or parent, want to send their kid to a program where the fans are calling for the coach to be fired! If CBN is fired in 2024, DL is going to portal out! Its clear the pressure of not winning and the pressure of this job is getting to him. I hope he gets some rest, enjoys the holidays and takes the opportunity to reflect on his process and make some urgently needed personal adjustments.
Needed new blood. Hocke is too mild imo. Players need a guy with insane energy every day. A real leader.
Only a few fans are calling for him to be fired, which is ridiculous at this juncture. The large majority want him to win and the team to show they are improving- which hasn’t happened. Your post sounds more like the fault is with the fans, instead of “why would any athlete or parent want to send their kid to a program that has had 3 losing seasons in a row?”. Believe me, I pray he can turn it around- I really like him, like I did Mike White, but he was hired to win and bring us back to prominence. I think he gets two more years, let’s hope he can do it for all involved.
He is with us to start 2025. I think some fans seething at the mouth wanting him gone without understanding what he inherited and the current state of CFB, played a factor in major negative recruiting and the flips we saw. Had he won any of the last 5 games, I do believe some of the flips would have been neutralized. Everyone can see the 2024 schedule and easily go to places where he only gets 2-3 wins at best...I think we get to 4.
