Meeting with the media after his first round 84 was heart wrenching to watch. To be at the top of your game and then to lose it has to destroy you mentally. Sometimes the harder you try to fix it the worse things get. I see he did shoot a 72 today.
Trust me, best thing to happen to my golf game was an injury that forced me to quit for 6 months to a year.
He finished -21 and T11 just over a month ago. Doesn’t look like he’s had a great year, but an 84 is obviously an outlier on a tougher course. Not like a David Duvall or Ian Baker Finch situation where they just became headcases. Kind of weird to see him break down.
I essentially quit golf for almost 2 years and I completely lost my short game. Just now getting it back after 8 months of playing again. FWIW
