Because they're UNC. Jordan went there, remember? Can't taint their brand with semantics like scandals.

Zero chance Kansas loses their title. Zero. Of course I'd be more than happy to be wrong.

What did you see watching the final 4 that made it painfully obvious they were cheating?

the players. I mean UNC, an 8 seed, has how many big athletic guys we could only dream about recruiting. Duke and Kansas just reload with top recruits each year. The narrative is that they're blue blood schools, but we all know how widespread and deep the pay for play schemes go in NCAA men's basketball....and the surefire way to continuously reload is to go along with that all the other "top" programs are doing....and pay up. How many times do we need to hear - after they're already in the NBA of course - that their parents got a stack of cash or some other blatant violation. "Hard work" doesn't cut it on the recruiting trail. These kids, their parents, handlers, bag men, the shoe companies, the coaches....everyone....KNOWS how the system works, yet we're supposed to just watch it happen and pretend that the cheaters aren't rising to the top - because they have all the best players. It's been going on since Wooden, likely before.

It's tough when you're an amateur team competing against professionals.

It’s all legal now. Granted, most of those programs were built on systemic cheating, and even a portion of these teams were likely built that way, but it’s been legal to pay them for a couple years now. You want to buy the next zion a house? Have at it. The way the law is written in Florida, they put this 100% on the fanbase.

You need to check your jealousy. How juvenile can you be. Someone gets something for having more talent than you and your are going to try to destroy their career... YOUR TEAMMATE? Guess we would know who is stealing all the stuff in the locker room.

Get over yourself max, you and Murph act like I suggested players will put a "hit" on someone like Arch.

Let me be, more specific - it's football, last I checked it's a contact sport. QB's don't always have red jerseys, I'm suggesting that in practice if a kid has a "legit shot" to hit someone, they will.

OK???? Gee I guess you guys think players should tuke each other into bed at night and bring them milk and cookies..............

Getting paid for someone to use your likeness doesn't translate to we can "legally" buy your mother a house or indirectly pay you to come play. Unless I'm missing something in the recent ruling, programs still aren't allowed to pay players. Where specifically does it say programs can pay players? And what does the state of Florida have to do with the NCAA? One is a state, the other is national/federal.

If i read you correctly, what you're saying is that they've been acting as a professional team while we are still amateur, and that if we're not paying our players that's on us as fans for not finding a way to pay the players. Correct? If Florida allows it but not other states, then that puts Florida fans at an advantage - why would that be allowed

I guess you haven’t been paying much attention to what’s going on. The nil thing is federal and the ncaa sued the feds and lost which opened the floodgates. States have put their own laws in place to somewhat govern it, but it’s mostly a free for all. Some states allow the schools to act directly in these transaction, Florida has put it on the fan bases and said the schools can’t pay directly.

What it boils down to is this…players can now make money off of their name, image, and likeness. There are no real rules on what exactly this means and no caps on payments. If you want to buy a kid a house in exchange for an autograph, you can do that. If you want to give a kid a million dollars to come to your kids birthday party, you can do that. If you want to give a kid a car in exchange for an appearance at your dealership, you can do that. The ncaa now has no power to stop it. Technically it’s not “pay for play” even though that’s exactly what it is. There’s already been multiple million dollar + deals for football players. Word on the street is tenn’s qb for this next class has an 8 million dollar deal in place.

No more bitching about “cheaters” buying players, and no more bitching about coaches not “closing”. The kids that want money are likely going to get it. If our fanbase wants the best, they can now buy it.

ok so fans can pay them but programs can't, and boosters are considered fans. If it's that open, then that's the nail in the coffin for amateur sports. One of the main reason a lot of us love(d) college sports in the first place. Ok, I stand corrected. I still don't like it. Oh well. Next hobby.

I’m not up to date on all of the laws of individual states, but from what i’ve seen the one’s that were first to pass them were more restrictive. I’ve read that some states allow the schools to pay directly, or at least work more as a middle man than others.

The Louisville administration fell on their own swords, fired a Hall of Fame coach, self-imposed almost every penalty, FULLY cooperated . . . and the NCAA STILL stripped them of a National Championship and Final Four. North Carolina committed academic fraud and walked. My money is that Kansas will walk and the NCAA will make itself even more despised and irrelevant as programs get smart and just lawyer-up and tell the NCAA to pound sand. Maybe it tries to re-gain some relevance but my money is on Kansas walking with a wrist slap, if that.

unc threatened to sue and the paper tiger ncaa folded like a piece of wet toilet paper, and then hid in the bushes with their tails tucked hoping it would blow over. Since the media is scared to go after unc, or really any blue blood, it pretty much got swept under the rug and disappeared.
What i will never understand is how this never affected their academic standing.

I agree. NC should have been stripped of their membership in the AAU, which is supposed to be based on elite academic schools. Made a mockery of it.

You are not changing my mind, I still believe that any player worth his salt would not back off and take the best shot possible.

    I sure as hell would.

Guess we will have to disagree on this one.

The NCAA is the biggest collection of cheaters known to man.

    Kansas is safe.

They pulled a title from UL but they ain't about to do diddly squat to Kansas. North Carolina and Duke are above reproach to the NCAA. If you are looking for fairness go to the U.S. Supreme Court because you will not find it in Indy.

Bullshit. They could have pulled UNC's last two titles. They just did not have the balls.
