IF the article is accurate, their excuse that they were worried about being accused of an honest mistake doesn't seem very credible. But it should be easy enough to identify what luggage they had checked in to see if the luggage appeared very similar.

Agreed. On the second point, the person is a government official. I think it's a fair story to cover and not surprising that Biden's name is going to be mentioned. But Biden aside, the focus seems to be on the gender identity aspect, which I'm not sure has anything to do with the alleged theft. It reminds me of sites that showcase violence committed by Black people or child sex abuse committed by gay people while mostly avoiding stories about others.
