Yes it was. The bill was a political stunt that had absolutely no chance of making it out of the House Judiciary Committee.

But what if this was reversed and it was Biden getting shot at after Trump said this? The world would be out for blood and AOC would be filing whatever to get him removed from the ballot.

There would have been marches and riots; police cars burned and stores looted.

I think gaterz’s point was centered on the relative villainy of each statement.

Your point is a more complicated one. I do think that the media gives Biden more slack than Trump (though right wing media the reverse). Now I think the left would argue that Trump has earned his short leash by past behavior. Of course, perhaps the reason he is perceived this way was been tinted by an even earlier bias. On average this disparity might be “fair”, as Trump seems more of an instigator than Biden, but certainly there must be particular cases, like this one, where Trump is getting decidedly unfair treatment.

I personally can’t control the media, but I try to do what I can to curb by own anti-Trump bias. Just because we don’t like a politician doesn’t mean that they are always wrong or always evil. I do my best to keep that in mind.

Probably, but in that hypothetical there wouldn’t be just 1 days old comment to zoom in on. Trump has a track record of hundreds of incendiary comments stretched out across his political career.

Might be a good time to check your pantry and see how much food and water you all have and stock up just in case. No grocery stores, possibility of power outages, means you need to fend for yourselves for at least a few weeks until order is restored. It's going to be a long 2024.

It also depends on the motivations of the shooter. If Trump said some of his normal incendiary shit and some gravy seal militia neckbeard took a shot at Biden a few days later there would absolutely be an uproar. Whereas this shooting with Trump seems to be a bullied loser that was not politically motivated. In other words, regardless of Biden’s stupid comment it almost certainly was not a motivating factor for Trump’s would be assassin.

Funny, I thought when Palin put out her bullseye poster including Gabby Giffords on it that the right howled that you can't connect it to her shooting.

I will re-post here what was posted in the other thread.
That's not the full quote. now is it in context-- either on message or in circumstance.

    Here is the full quote:

Republicans blame Joe Biden for Donald Trump rally shooting

Biden told donors in a private phone call on Monday that Trump was running from his record and that Democrats "can't go another day without explaining what he's doing."

"We can't waste any more time being distracted," Biden said, pointing out that the election was just four months away.

"I have one job and that's to beat Donald Trump," Biden said. "We're done talking about the (June 27) debate. It's time to put Trump in the bullseye. He's gotten away with doing nothing for the last 10 days except ride around in his golf cart, bragging about scores he didn’t score…The fact is, he's not answering questions."

    =====================

The figurative reference is not a call to violence. It refers to shifting the conversation away from calls for Biden to drop out and toward Trump. And refers to Trump having ten free days without scrutiny while Trump played golf.

And it was made to political donors.

Nobody could read the statement as a call to shoot Biden.

    Do you?

Just stop insulting people who can read and comprehend.

Everyone with a functioning brain stem knows that Biden meant to take the focus off his bad debate and get back to focusing on Trump.

That same group also knows exactly what Trump meant a few years ago when he said that the only people who could stop a President Hillary from selecting her judges were those who preferred "2nd Amendment solutions."

How you know they know Trump isn’t Hitler:

They called him Hitler one day and wished him well the next.

    Lying sacks of s***.

Yeah, that 1 particular Trump comment probably was taken out of context in a similar way to the Biden comment.

Now do the other 999 incendiary Trump comments: 2nd amendment solutions, rooting out the vermin, I am your retribution, fight like hell or you won’t have a country anymore (literally at a rally he assembled to match on the Capitol), rough ‘em up a little and i’ll pay your lawyer fees, poisoning the blood of our country, etc etc etc.
