Maybe I’m wrong, but I suspect that’s not much of a needle mover. “Celebs back Dems” isn’t anything new, and I think the people “Swiftie” enough to actually care who she’s voting for were almost universally committed Harris voters already.

You will undoubtedly get some random Republicans on Twitter bemoaning how terrible everything she has put out since she stopped being “country” is though. And while I actually agree with them, that’s been true long before she decided to post her political opinions :D

It won't move the needle much but I do think it will count for some extra votes. The race will be tight so both candidates could use every endorsement possible

I don’t want to jump into the politics of the Taylor thing or the debate tonight, but her level of fame genuinely astounds me…I really wonder if any male over 30 really understands how big a deal she is.
She posted that 39 minutes ago and is well north of 2.6 million likes on Insta already.

Those without daughters or students in the target age range almost certainly don't.

If anyone knows a girl or woman between the ages of 5 and 55 they know how big Taylor Swift is.

That's true to a point, but the part of the electorate that follows her had been largely apathetic towards Biden after the first debate (who they showed up for in 2020--she publicly endorsed him then) and they are the most inconsistent of voters. For her nearly 240 million followers, it's a pretty big move of the needle honestly. 3 million people have liked her Instagram endorsement in just 51 minutes.

You have to go back to 1972 to have the turnout rate 18-24 year olds had in 2020. And the turnout rate from 2016 to 2020 was a huge upswing across the board for 18-24 year olds. They were not enthusiastic at all for Hillary.

Whether she actually moved that needle in 2020 or not, it can't be dismissed that the first time she endorses a candidate, that inconsistent voting block who follows her showed up at the highest percentage in nearly 50 years.

I think you underestimate the effect Swift could have on her younger fans who are typically a very low turnout group. She has quite the audience...

To that point, I saw this.
Who knows how many of these hits were from US folks, how many were already registered and just checking it out, and how many of the remaining number are in swing states and plan to register.
But I just can’t imagine simply putting something out on line and having 300k people follow it in less than 12 hours.
And her original posters coming up on 10 million likes. It’s just crazy.

I won't take credit for this because I saw someone else suggest it but what if Taylor Swift said she has a new album ready but will only release it if Kamala wins?

What's so great is I'm pretty sure this is a fake Trump tweet, but he's so unhinged you can never actually be sure.

Yes, it is. It is a joke on the tweet he sent during Kamala's speech at the DNC. I just love that Vance literally tried to minimize the endorsement based on her being a billionaire that isn't in touch.

Not sure you understand the phenomena that she is with her base. Most of them are very young, and as such, most of them would not have turned out.

Her coming out with her endorsement will create more excitement among them to follow in her steps.

That is potentially millions of extra voters. In a race that could be decided by 10s of thousands of votes it well could be a deciding factor.
