I certainly don't think Florida is red enough for the GOP to even consider taking for granted, but right now, with Biden at the top of the ticket, Democrats winning the state seems about as hard as ice skating up a steep hill.

I thought "wow... just wow" made perfect sense and needed no further elaboration.

So in your thoughts, it's shocking to consider the GOP has a winning communication strategy with Latino voters in Florida? Again, is that premise shocking because Latino voters have trended more R since 2016 (verifiable fact) or because the GOP runs a bunch of ads in the state linking Biden/AOC/Bernie with Latin American dictators (another verifiable fact)?

I'm just really amused and baffled at what's triggered so many of you "Conservatives" about my position that the GOP has a winning strategy with Latino voters in Florida. That seems like a statement you guys would want to celebrate.

I know a fair amount of people that will be employed by the campaign if there are serious expenditures here. Heard nothing yet.

Why counter the GOP messaging? Why not use the same messaging or at least pretend to? These people have witnessed socialism up close. They look at this administration and see socialism. They see a WH that spies on it's political opponents. They see rigged elections. They see a 4th branch of government jailing people that did not take part of J6. That's what happens in Cuba.

If you want the Hispanic vote don't act like a dictator. Don't allow abortions right up to birth. Don't celebrate the mentally ill on Easter. Don't sexualize their children in school. It's not messaging. It's actions. Act like a communist and your messaging means nothing.

I am old enough to remember when GOP states were blue and Democrat leaning were red.

I don't think it will tip the scales, because Trump is not categorically anti-abortion. When recently pressed on the issue, he always reverts to "a compromise is needed." His position is centrist, if not slightly left of center. I do not believe for a second he endorses the draconian measures some states have taken with regard to Dobbs.

yeah, I recall all your complaints about Trump's Leftist policies. he has a 4 year record (New NAFTA anyone?) &, the ethanol king is bragging loudly about his leftist plans for next time. you do not know left from right, only R from D.

Ohio is a red state. When he leads by double digits.. that's not "purple."

Abortion isn’t going to sway anyone that would vote for Trump. It’s about abortion being on the ballot and drawing in pro-choice voters in November that may not have otherwise voted. Doubt it will win Biden Florida though.

Yes, thus the reason I put "purple" in quotes, because it's a dubious claim to say Ohio is a purple state, but people still say it.

Was that not clear? I thought that was pretty clear...

True for Ohio. But I dont think Florida is a Red as people think. I think the Red loons are just very loud there and the good ole boy network of politics is strong. Its basically structured like North Carolina with an embedded good ole boy network and an influx of newer dems which has the population pretty evenly split. Biggest difference is the NC Dems are not disorganized and put up good candidates.

While I cannot see Biden flipping Florida keep in mind that the most recent poll was the result of a survey almost a month ago and most were even further out. I expect the polls to narrow to the point where the Trump campaign will be forced to devote significant resources to Florida and even if Biden loses the state as expected the strategy will be successful considering that the Trump campaign has less financial resources than Biden's campaign and that a least a portion of the donations to the Trump campaign, the RNC and Trump's superpac are being used for his legal fees rather than his actual campaign.

I think this is basically true. The Dem brand is tarnished here, and a lot of people are basically disaffected by the state party. Also there are lots of people that are "culturally Republican" simply because that's whos run the state for decades - your chamber of commerce types, and careerists who need government connections. Those people are squishy and arent hard-right on issues, particularly culture war stuff, like drugs and abortion. I still believe someone like John Morgan could run as an independent and win the governorship pretty easily over a generic Republican candidate with Desantis-like right-wing views.

So ironically, I dont think these initiatives necessarily help Biden - will probably increase his margin of defeat actually, but a high turnout will help get them over the line, most likely. Democrats across the country should hope for a low turnout election TBH! They've kicked ass in low turnout special elections.

My ideal (and most hilarious) outcome is a Trump popular vote win and Biden EC win. Perhaps we can finally abandon that stupid institution!

Actually, it wasn't clear at all, because you referred to Florida being more "perhaps slightly more blue" than Ohio and we know blue makes red into purple. So that would indicate purple to me if you're saying their is at least some blue in Ohio. Ohio is red and Florida will likely confirm red status in November. I'd say Florida is "magenta" right now.

Dark red, book it. Trump will conduct a few rallies in Florida just to tip his hat to Florida MAGA and independents who will vote for him. The Free State of Florida:

Voter Registration - By Party Affiliation - Division of Elections - Florida Department of State

There are now 856,000 more republicans than democrats in the state of Florida. Any doubts on Florida being deep red will be erased in November.

It always amazes me when the pundits put Texas in play as a pink or purple state. They are always wrong.

A state I don't think Trump can win is New York, but I expect he will go all out to try to flip the state. With all of the anti-Trump political lawfare going on in New York, it could become closer than most think possible at this time, or it could pay dividends down the road for the next republican candidate.
