    Blanking on his name and then stating “the Black Man” as if that was why he was qualified. It’s insulting. His Secretary of Defense was a horrible decision because he withheld his cancer diagnosis from Biden which caused a huge rift between the two of them.

    Why on earth would the color of Austin’s skin make him a good or bad choice? You think you would just want the most qualified individual.

    As everyone here knows, I will vote for Dead Biden due to Trump.

    But I’m hay in the barn. This is exactly the type of thing that will lose those 100,000 that aren’t terrified of Trump World.

    I just have to laugh. The guy you're implying wasn't "the most qualified individual" to be SecDef is a retired four-star general who led troops in combat in both Iraq and Afghanistan, earned a Silver Star, and was commander of CENTCOM. Thank you for providing another perfect example of why right-wing gripes about "merit" are total bullshit.

    And I didn’t vote for Trump, so don’t go that route. All the reasons you mentioned are why he is qualified. Biden going on BET and saying “the Black Man” was a terrible look, but don’t ask me. Look at the demographics and how Biden is polling with African-Americans now versus 4 years ago.

    No, Biden said he took heat for naming a Black man Secretary of Defense. From the article you posted:
    “It’s all about treating people with dignity. For example, look at the heat I’m getting because I named a, uh, the secretary of defense, [unintelligible] black man,” Biden said.

    As usual, Biden delivery was garbled, but it's not hard to discern his point. You're the one who made it about qualifications.

    So I guess that really is just politics as normal b/c NOBODY opposed Austin because of color. In the overwhelming confirmation the 2 dissenting votes were due to the recency of his military service.

    In fact, numerous people on both sides of the aisle gave Biden credit for appointing an African-American.

    So I go back to my original claim that Biden’s dumbass comment was more than a gaffe. He was implying he was catching strays for going out on a limb and appointing a minority when literally the exact opposite was true. But Biden’s donations are about to disappear, and even Obama is pointing out the obvious so I guess who really cares.

    The problem is partly Jill Biden and partly Dems using kid gloves with Biden. Jill knows better than any of us how far gone Joe is. If she had any moral compass, she would force him to stand down. The Dems keep talking to Biden about polling data. Stop talking to Biden about the polling data. The man has dementia. It doesn't matter if he's ahead by 10, he's clearly lost his mind and it's not going to improve with age. Do the right thing. Tell him he is sick and he needs to go for the good of the country. Polling data shouldn't factor into this. But that is why we are here in the first place, because Dems want to fraud their way through this.

    I'm glad we agree on what Biden meant. You can debate whether he actually received heat for it, but it wasn't about Austin's qualifications. Great that we settled that.
