Biden, "Buy an electric car and you will save $80 per month" He obviously didn't do the math.

Let's look at some of the "greatness" that goes into the ev batteries.

Seems that one cannot logically complain that that minerals used in EV batteries are mined by children if one uses a smartphone containing the same minerals. If the exploitation of children in Third World countries who mine metals used in EVs really bothers you, you should stop using all devices dependent upon the same metals.

By way the chances are that within a few years EVs will not have to rely on cobalt and lithium. Technology is not static.

That's not entirely accurate. While it's true that you will save money on gas, there are other cost considerations to take into account.

Do you mean like the many other maintenance requirements for ICE engines that electric car owners don't have to worry about (oil, transmission, radiator, timing belts, etc.)?

I've owned my Model 3 for almost 2 years. Not only do I average ~$100 on gas savings each month ($180 saved on gas vs $79 spent charging it), the only repair & maintenance expenses to date have been tire rotations.

Wow. Just checked out the price on an EV1. That's a pretty nice SUV for a starting price of $44k.

I’m not gonna trash em cause they seem to be really impressive. I’d worry about battery and charging issues if they gain serious market share. I wonder if the infrastructure is ready for that, or even close to being ready. Also, the gas tax that pays for a lot will eventually be redirected to other taxes that will go back out of your pocket. Not saying it makes your car any worse, but there are some negatives that you just haven’t gotten to yet.

Maybe they are just dying to pair their fair share to the Gov…
