No surprise, of course. He hasn't done a bad job, but he's hardly an exciting candidate. And there appears to be no one else in the Democratic wings waiting. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/04/25/biden-running-president-2024/
Marianne Williamson knocks DNC over lack of debates as Biden campaign launch nears Apparently, the DNC has decided there will not be any primary debates for Biden.
Given Biden's age and mental decline, I think voters may need to think long and hard about the distinct possibility of President Harris. It will be interesting to see how the campaign balances that message, especially given her own unpopularity.
Amazing how time changes things--- 'He's lost that old twinkle': When a young Joe Biden criticized his opponent's age | CNN Politics
They said the same thing about Reagan, so maybe the repubs should look for another argument, or at least put forth some policies that someone besides the MAGA crowd can agree with. Tax cuts for the rich, cutting entitlements, and taking away medical freedoms don’t seem to be cutting it. As far as President Biden running for re-election goes, all I can say is…
Gonna be pretty anti-climactic as well. Biden wins, Trump and his supporters whine. Maybe they try and overthrow democracy again. Good stuff.
How invigorating for the youth of America. 2 octogenarians yelling at each other 24/7 for the next 18 months. Reminds me of what I listened to on my front porch in Brooklyn when I was growing up and the two old guys across the street argued with each other all day. “The Mets are bettah, Shelly” “You’re an idiot, Stanley. It’s the Yankees with Whitey Fohd!!” Day after day. Just like this. Someone please wake me when it’s over.
Prolly the same reason there are like 200 different variations of CSI on TV and Hollywood just makes franchises and sequels.
My real concern is that trump will try to cheat to win. And if he did and won and it could be proven he cheated his followers would scream conspiracy and never accept it.
Biden has been fine enough. But yeah, 2024 is going to feel kind of meh. Old and uninspiring but competent versus some nutjob Republican. However, I disagree that there's nobody waiting in the wings for the Democrats. There are people, but they can't run for President when the Democrats have an incumbent President who is going to run for reelection.
So, it sounds like your position is that Biden's age is overplayed and not even an issue for average Americans. I'm curious if you think the campaign will follow that strategy, as it certainly wouldn't be the first time that polling was wrong.
I think his age is definitely a concern for a lot of Americans. The problem is there is no one else to vote for
I don't think anyone is gonna look at Biden's age and think, that's a deal breaker for me, I'm voting for Trump.
