First of all, what is the modern era? Some will say post WW2. Some will say post the advent of color TV. Gator fans will probably say 1990-present because of Spurrier. A quarter century into the 2000s, I think it's safe to say the modern era is the 2000s. During that time we have 2 football, 3 basketball, and 1 baseball NC. The only other school with multiple titles in those 3 sports is LSU with multiples in football and baseball. Texas and Miami have each won a baseball and a football NC since the turn of the new millenium. UF has at least one in each including multiples in football and basketball. UF is also the only school to win all 3 in the 2000s and the only school with 3 in football and 3 in basketball, although the first football was won pre-2000. And the only school to win the football and basketball NCs in the same season. Regardless of what metrics you want to use or how you want to paint it, UF is the only school to have the football-basketball combo in the 2000s and the football-basketball-baseball trifecta in the 2000s. Others have come close but they have not done what we have done. We truly are the sports program of the new millenium.
