Beginning to think AR has already made his decision

So Napier should call his qb out and say risk your health and be like Timmy and man up? Not a good look for a coach. Timmy kept those balls and got those tough yards but it was his decision. He could have kept a clean jersey at FSU if he had chosen too. Timmy wanted to win more than he wanted anything else.

 

Hard to say when the qb has options as to what happens.

 

AR is as good as he will ever be. He needs to move on. According to the reckoning of one poster he lacks the grit to get it done.

 

Threw for over 400 yards today but there were missed opportunities that would have led to more points if he just pulled it and ran. Seems like sometimes he makes decisions that looks like he believes he can just throw it all day and win. It was obviously that vandy came into the game deciding to take our running backs out. That would make you assume AR should have ran more.

 

I believe that BN was trying to work on the passing game, largely due to the fact that we were playing one of the worst pass defenses in the country - and AR clearly needed the work. That was not an unreasonable assumption going in. In hindsight however, he would seem to have outsmarted himself by not focusing on winning the game first. In my experience, the one thing that conspiracy theorists seem to overlook on a regular basis is the human capacity for screwing the pooch in virtually any situation.

 

Too late (IMO) but Napier should have gotten Kitna in real games, USF and UGa especially. The more you show concern about changing the QB, it gets even harder in the future. I would call it playing scared, and we all know Napier doesn't do scared. A the least, I think it showed that Napier had too many hats this year. He missed this aspect.

 

That is football. People want to roast the coaches over this. Sometimes it just takes a talented player making the right play at a critical time to save you from a loss like this. We just don’t have those players. We have some good players and a lot of average players.

 

That is fine, and really the game reflected the Missouri game in that aspect, but once we decided to run it, we did not do it well. I guess we could say the long run by Johnson could have primed the pump but the penalty effectively stopped it again, but in the end the offense just was off. And I completely agree with the idea that all teams have these kinds of games but that the really good ones have ways to overcome them with superior talent. We don't have it this year. And likely next year also.

 

Kitna may have lit a fire under his ass for sure if he had more opportunity. It’s just year one without much depth. Hopefully in the future, next man up is a real thing.

 

On Gator Bytes with Denny and Hacker, Hacker mentioned that Denny gave several nuggets the week before about a new QB coming to Florida and that the QB room would look a lot different in the spring. Then Rashada committed.

And on this past weeks episode, he would not really comment on whether or not AR staying or going, and says he doesn’t know what AR is going to do. But he did indicate Florida was definitely going to take a transfer QB. He also continues to comment on how AR is still a first round QB, just based on his athletic ability, arm strength, etc. and that the results on the field really don’t change that.

That being said, I think Denny is pretty much telling us that AR is going to the NFL, regardless based on reading between the lines and the lite nuggets and comments he makes.

 

Just one week ago, we saw him do exactly what he wouldn't do yesterday, and it opened it up for Johnson and ETN. This flip flop has been going on all year, week to week and sometimes half to half.

At this point only AR and BN/coaches really knows why, but i don't think its BN directing him not to pull the ball, when the RB will have to break tackles just to avoid a loss, or to force a throw rather than run to daylight.

I wonder which AR will show up next week.

 

You are right, way too many mistakes by both coaches and players. However, AR chose not to run and when that happens our O is not the same. He could have walked in the end zone several times. Instead of fgs it could have been TDs. If he is the leader, you would see him play like he did vs uga, ut. It was about as passive running as one could get. And if he is protecting himself by declaring for the draft, he is not a leader at all. So technically you are right, but he certainly didn't help as much as he could.

 

There were a lot of upsets and games yesterday that were closer than many thought they would be. You have to bring it every week. Using Vandy as a tuneup/ practice game may be a lesson for Napier if that’s even remotely what happened . UF has never been undefeated and if Tim had a do over, I believe we smoke ole miss in 08. You can’t take a game off in the sec.

Just read an article where the Lions had reps at the game evaluating AR, so no wonder he went all passing mode and shut down the running game. So, team oriented or self centered?

I can't help but think BN knows this and either is ok with it or is in a box bench him and create a firestorm among the team or be content with his inconsistent passing that doesn't open up the field with his running.

 

I agree, but without the threat of the QB run, the RBs just aren't as effective as they otherwise might be. And for whatever reason, the RPO based QB run was nearly non-existent yesterday. In-game "practice" might well be a viable concept in some circumstances. But the object is still to win the game first, and we seem to have lost sight of that fact. No hidden coaching agendas are required to explain a game plan that undermined what had been a team strength. We either put the cart before the horse by turning a game into an extended passing drill, or AR didn't want to stick his neck out on his way out the door. Take your pick.

 

He's gone. Why else would he throw the ball out of the end zone on the last play. He didn't want an interception.

 

What says bad draft pick more than a player who is more concerned with himself than the other 21 guys on the field and his team winning a game. If AR is truly packing it in all year I wouldn't want a guy like that to be on my NFL team under any circumstance.

 

His head has been in the draft all year. I really wanted him to do great things here but if his main goal isn’t winning games at Florida, it’s best for both parties for him to move on. I will root for him to succeed.

 

Don’t let the door hit ya on the way out. He has decided to not use his legs in every game we have lost this year. Don’t believe me go look at the tape. Several times yesterday he could have pulled the ball and hit his head on the goal post. They never honored the fake all day. The end crashes every snap. Same against kentucky and other games this year. It will likely be the same Friday. Napier is in a no win situation until Richardson is gone.
