Beginning to think AR has already made his decision

I think we as college football fans in general, and gator fans specific to AR fall victim to our point of view type thinking. We don’t think AR should go because we love the gators and want to be the best but we have no chance at the NFL. While I believe AR loves the gators it’s also possible that he has a bigger dream of the NFL and given the opportunity to make your dream happen he should take it.

If an NFL team wants him now show him the money.

 

Well just having the opportunity to play football for a D1 school is a blessing. To be the starting qb at a D1 school is an even greater blessing. If you feel stress bc you feel the need to support the whole family, the family dynamic is off. If you are coming from a poor family, you may have more motivation to make it in the big leagues, but there shouldn't be a mentality of "Ive got to make it to support my family." I understand wanting to take care of your parents and family, but you need to be realistic about playing sports as a career. Playing sports should be viewed as a gift to have fun and grow; it shouldnt be viewed as their only way to succeed. I think some kids get around that 4-star ranking and start thinking "I'm bound to go to the NFL" but thats really not the case. The stats on making it to the NFL are very, very slim. Playing sports should be fun and viewed as an opportunity or privilege, but I would caution against it being viewed as a way to make generational wealth because thats very rare. AR has the chance to be really good, but no one honestly knows whether he will actually be successful or not because he was VERY inconsistent this year, so he shouldnt feel an expectation to make it

 

Saban’s already got a run-first QB he doesn’t want to play…Milroe.

 

I think he will take a huge chance of not getting that guaranteed money by staying and possibly not improving much. I’m not sure what his degree is in but chancing are he won’t be making six figures in the real world anytime soon. He should start using much of his time learning to set up his financial future as the time is fast approaching.

 

I'm not going to give bacon but you are far off here.
I don't think AR is ready for the NFL for many reasons...
1) The game still seems to overwhelm him. See his very poor management at the end of game and end of half.
2) He can't even throw a simple screen pass. Twice in important situations he has sailed the ball over his receivers head. (End of half at AM, start of 3rd at FSU.)
3) Lack of experience. This was really his first year starting.
4) Lack of ability to beat even mediocre defenses. Kentucky ate him up, He went 9/27 vs FSU. What will the NFL do to him if UK overwhelms him.

None of these facts has anything to do w/ me wanting him to be a Gator.
OUr best OL is a first rounder, and I would advise him to go. He played really well all year. He's ready.

If you want to see an NFL ready QB, look at Caleb Williams of USCw.
The contrast w/ AR is like night and day. Frankly AR looks like a minor leaguer vs Williams.

I agree has the POTENTIAL. With maturity and experience he could be an all-timer.
But the NFL isn't a developmental league.

 

He needs to be figuring out how to structure 4-5 mil into a longterm plan and live within those means.

 

And its not that hard. I did it for one of my players with a signing bonus he received from the Cowboys that was half of that number. A couple of years of really great growth in the market and he makes $250k + a year in investment income. Could do a lot better but he is very conservative. Outside of big cities, $250k a year in mail box money is rich.

 

I understand stand where you’re coming from totally. And I mean no disrespect but are you, or anyone here a nfl GM? Or on an nfl team payroll? Scout? If not, why are you the expert?

I agree with you. From my vantage point I don’t think he looks the part but we’re all on here giving opinions on a subject matter than we’re not experts in. Again, no disrespect but if a GM wants him and wil take him in the first round,
How can we say he’s not a first rounder? My argument is more about will be or won’t he be drafted high. Not sure much is he good enough.

 

I think he probably will. There's 32 NFL GMs and 1 of those 32 (or more!) are dumb enough to take him.
I'm a Panthers fan, and I've already said they absolutely could take him. They are that desperate, and that stupid.
(See the years of futility since Richardson was forced to sell to Tepper.)

There's always an NFL GM who fall in love with combine numbers, then see what they want to see when it comes to film.
There number of NFL QB busts are as long as my arm testify to this.

 

Unfortunately, the non-profits got stuck with the bill/responsibility, not the richest league in the entire freaking world. The only one, BTW, who doesn't have some kind of development system of its own.

 

Good points. I think we agree on more than we disagree here.

 

AR is fragile. If he can go early in the draft he should go. Alot of bad things can happen if he stays. Could get hurt, benched, play like crap, etc. Take the money and run, the Gators will be ok.

 

The system the QB is running matters a lot. Lincoln Riley runs a QB friendly offense. While our offense may have open receivers at times, there is a difference between giving your QB easy throws to wide open receivers versus challenging throws to open receivers. When the windows are smaller, it magnifies any issues a QB has with accuracy.

 

Umm, look at 2 throws AR missed by 10 yards...

1) End of first half at AM. He had a back to his right- easy pitch and catch and first down. He sailed the ball 10 yards over his head. It was maybe a 10 yard throw to his right. This led to an AM TD at the end of that half.

2) Start of 2nd half at FSU. Same thing, but to AR's left. 10 yard overthrow to a WIDE OPEN back. We could have easily had a first down, and perhaps we score. Hard to know, but at least we don't have a 3 and out.

This has nothing to do w/ the offense. These were easy as pie throws, and AR sailed them yards over his receiver's head.
He's not ready for the NFL until he can make these very easy throws. That's on him, not Napier or our offense.

Here's another question- you are drafting for the NFL. Do you take Williams or AR? No brainer for me- I take Williams.

 

Time to give AR a few mil in NIL

Due to recent revelations I changed my mind, I hope AR stays. Especially if we can’t land hartman.
