Just reporting what I recall. And it wasn't Will's coach that said that about him. I think it was an opposing coach. Also, sounds like Will had much flashier numbers than I thought.
We still have two ships, yeah? I can't imagine TFG leaves those empty. Sure has been quiet. Are we in a dead period?
We didn't finish the roster until June of last year--Pullin, Rishwain, and Kublickas all committed then. There are still lots of kids in the portal, and we are probably also looking overseas.
Agents telling them they can get free agent signings and if they are good enough they might stick, Walter especially. Waiting around for pg or a wing 6’7” or bigger is going to make us look else where instead of the transfer portal where there are some studs. Seems like a mistake to wait. Just my thoughts.
There are still a thousand or more unsigned players in the portal. I have a hard time imagining Clayton not returning unless he hates going to college. Chances are he will get a million dollars or close to it from the NIL vs about $500,000 if he is lucky enough to get a 2-way NBA contract.
Clayton and Richard will be back, and we aren’t expecting to bring in a stud from the portal. Our rotation is pretty much set. We want a younger guard to develop and another combo forward or combo post for depth reasons.
You want a kid who averaged 7 and 5 in 15 mpg at Hampton? Not sure what you are expecting. We have 7 scholarship players returning, 1 incoming freshman, and 3 portal takes. We have a grand total of 2 scholarships available, and roughly 1,000 kids in the portal. Our rotation is set, our roster is basically filled out, and we are looking for kids who will help beyond next year.
Will and Walter haven’t said they are 100% certain they are coming back, that makes my stomach queasy. I would still like a skilled three with size, is that asking too much. Look at Arkansas, Kentucky, they keep adding skilled players to backup very good players, and they are no sloches. we have to play these teams, we need to be good, “and deep. This is where we fell down at the end. We weren’t deep enough for the long season. recruit till your wife wants to leave you, if not, a lot of teams will beat you to death with depth. Let’s fill these last two spots with talented players, it’s only money keeping them from being Gators!
