This is 100% false. The numbers aren't there. Not sure if you are right or left but this doesn't come close to abortion or the 2A. The trans population is so small. Half the country are women. If you are a righty you may HOPE this is like abortion but in reality...it barely moves the needle in the grand scheme of things.

Unlike the purported slippery slope argument offered by many against same sex marriage - that we couldn't draw a very obvious line between same sex marriage and people marrying animals- there are practical issues here that I think most of us recognize.

I'm not sure if any state or locality has adopted your test which is based upon whether the person has had surgery or not. Some might be willing to agree to that, but I'm sure others would not. Even if we adopted that test, I wonder about enforcement issues because unless someone walks around nude in a bathroom (not something I've ever seen), no one is seeing their genitals.

Locker rooms seem more complicated by their nature with people getting dressed and undressed. I suppose Gold's Gym could set their own rules and let people decide whether they want to go there or go to another gym. We'd still have to have a test and enforcement procedures for restrooms in public stadiums or airports though.

I have to say I agree. You can polish a turd all you want, It's still a turd.

Is this entire thing really so complex? This is truly a slippery slope for every sex/gender/nongender. What would be the next evolution should we allow Trans men / women in the opposing Locker / bathrooms?. Whats to stop the next complaint from a transgender male, who used to be female, or vise-versa from claiming the should be able to use both men's and woman's facilities being it isnt based on sex, but solely on how one identifies, and they are now 1, but used to identify as 2?

I'm curious. How do you reconcile the Target/Bud Light controversies with your belief that this issue "barely moves the needle".
Their market cap has dropped. Executives have been put on leaves of absences. I do not believe the combination extrenw right wing/MAGA and or evangelicals have that power. I know they haven't been successful in any of their previous boycotts.

I was having an outing with friends this weekend, one of them is a girls soccer coach. She said she has one kid on her team that wants to be identified as a cat. She wears the tail, the whole nine yards. She gets reprimanded regularly by the kids for using her name and not the “they” pronoun. Some other kids also want to be called “they” and bristle are being called by their names.
So someone else there is a teacher, he said that he has one student who shows up to school wearing girls clothes, goes into the bathroom, changed into joys clothes; and wants to be referred to by a different name all day. When he has parent conferences he has to remember to use the girls name, because apparently the parents don’t know and he doesn’t know how it would be received if he told them, so he doesn’t think it’s his place.
The world has just gone off its rocker.

Abortion is a bigger issue to most people than this one. But if Republicans stay in that First Trimester buffer with later exceptions, they shouldn't see too much public blowback.

That would be enough to get Democrats to throw a hissy fit without being enough to alienate most people.

What's fair is fair, you bring up where to draw a line; I think it's appropriate for an opposing view to challenge the idea of not having a line (or to challenge the line chosen).

Look at Bud Light's demographics. And then you can understand why they were trying to appeal to a younger audience. Also, the controversy was limited to ONE single ad made by an influencer. There was ZERO Bud Lt trans ads on TV, in magazines, etc. The right lives off of FEAR porn. Turn on Fox right now...fear 24/7.

Trans issues are gray. I do not believe trans athletes should compete outside of their biological designation. Abortion is way more cut and dry. Most people are ok with compromises. The right refuses to compromise and continues down a path that will no doubt be their undoing. The right is also doubling down on anti-trans laws. Most people have empathy. I know you rightys want to think you have something to battle abortion with but this ain't it. If you try, it will end up badly. I mean, it is going to end up badly anyhow but attacking trans kids isn't going to win a lot of the votes you didn't already have.

problem with your golds gym is the second a rule was posted outside the locker room golds Gym would be served by some aggrieved person looking to shake someone down.

It is gross to pull that shit, and I've had enough of it. Transgender people aren't faking it. They are out there living their lives as the gender they identify with. When somebody pretends that it is being done out of convenience or a desire to look at naked women, it trivializes the issue. It's like pretending that gay people are faking being gay for attention or because they can't get girls. It's messed up.

What I'm trying to say is that, in my opinion, a dude (biological male) doesn't want to feel uncomfortable in a men's locker room so he uses the women's locker room making many more people (females) uncomfortable.

Say there's a 10 person max limit per locker room. The dude can use the men's locker room and that results in 1 (or just a couple) uncomfortable people in the locker room. When the dude uses the women's locker room, there are most likely 9 uncomfortable people in the locker room.

It's selfish, imo. Suck it up and use the locker room matches your private parts. It's selfish because it makes a lot more people uncomfortable just because the one person doesn't want to feel uncomfortable themselves.

It's as if he has never had any female influence in his life. Defending a naked dude in a womens locker room is a weird hill to die on.

Go read the reporting. I couldn't find a single article that said the transgender woman exposed her privates. She was in a shower STALL with the door shut. The other woman started screaming at her because the trans woman was playing gospel music as she got dressed after showering. She came out of the shower stall and started filming the other woman (who was fully dressed and standing in front of the sink/mirror) when the other woman started insulting and yelling slurs at the trans woman. The other woman slapped the phone out of her hand and then reportedly struck the trans woman in the face.

That's what the reporting says, including the New York Post. I haven't found a single credible source saying anything about her exposing herself to the other woman. If other people have, feel free to post it.

Straw man GL. I don’t care what you or anyone does, what you smoke or drink or stick in your veins or who or what you chose to make whoopee. 2 simple rules to start. No junk, displayed or not, in women’s bathroom /locker room. No junk in women’s sports. Those were fairly reasonable requests just a few years ago

What you or anyone else chooses to do on their time is their biz.

I don’t think he claimed they were faking it, or was trying to see naked women, but he can tell me I was wrong.
The point again is that a formerly male transgender feels that the male locker room is inappropriate for him for whatever reason, but the vast majority of women are going to feel probably even more uncomfortable with a biological male in their extremely vulnerable space. Choosing the transgender persons feelings over the women in that locker room is putting the vast majority of people in a bad spot for the sake of the one. That’s the conversation the left doesn’t seem to want to have, other than “deal with it”. And one of the reasons why they are currently losing the national debate on it.

What is stopping anyone now? The line is already imaginary, and the crimes people imagine might occur are prosecutable in any scenario, no matter what you might say you identify as. The sign on the door is not a magic ward that keeps people out. Seems to me all this discussion has done is whip people into a sex panic where its acceptable for freaks to film people in the bathroom, its only made things worse and weirder. Its bizarre. I dont know why people cant get enough of this subject. Seems pretty tiresome to me. Certainly no new leaves are turned anytime it comes up. Same back and forth.
