Have him either pretty much stand on first or bunt him over.

He needs to go back to it because Kopp looks clueless. I would also reevaluate our hitting approach which means Chuck J as well.

Truth be told Sully was a catcher and all he knows about hitting and pitching is that it is hard to hit.

When I finished grad school in 2009, UTK was the Mendoza line in NucE, largely because of a lot of department-head foot-bullets. They're now #7 and have ranked as high as 4 or 5. It's been more than a decade since they removed their heads from their rears, but it's still weird for me to think of them as being really good at anything academic.

Anywho... bottom of the 5th, Cags was third up, so you've got to expect him to either be the last up or on the base paths when the inning ends. (I'd love to see how much his ERA swells when this is the case.) He's 83 pitches into the game, control starting to fade. I knew if there was going to be a complete meltdown it was going to be there. Didn't expect 11 though.

Was PC just not available at all? Maybe except for a rain delay? There was about a 15-20 minute period to get him warmed up with a clean inning. Probably would not have changed the L to a W, but still...

This team is proven talent... but somehow the coaches are not getting the best out of them. We all know what Sully needs to do.

Do you really think , except for one superstar this team has proven talent? Don’t think so , actually not even close. Mid level at best. Last year yes .

Ryan Slater, Cade Fisher, Brandon Neely, Cade Kurland and Luke Heyman were all key components of last year's national runners up. None of them are playing anywhere near the level they did last year. Shelnut is about the same, while Evans and Jac have improved significantly. Other than Kurland's hand, I have no explanation why the regression of these other guys.

Sophomore slump for Kurland and Heyman. No idea what has happened to Rhino, Brandon and Cade Fisher. There is always NEXT YEAR! OMG have to pull that "Wait 'til next year" out again?

Butch Davis, outfielder for the Baltimore Elite Giants, was born #OTD in 1916. In his only season of major league ball, he led the league in games, triples, RBI and steals while batting .341. He later played for many years in the minor leagues.

Johnny Wright, pitcher mostly for the Homestead Grays and Newark Eagles, died #OTD in 1990. A 2-time All-Star, he twice led the league in win percentage and won the pitching Triple Crown in 1943 as Homestead won the World Series

Sully has repeatedly said ALL SEASON LONG that he will not put Coppola in a relief situation. He has been adamant that Coppola stays in the routine of his throwing protocol.

Did I miss Sully saying anything else or different?

@ocalaman your post is spot on. I always look at our pitching first. In the highlights of your post it’s hard not to agree that Slater has regressed—no real plan of attack (command, control, confidence nor
location, location, location). What his predictable approach has been is slider-slider-slider-slider/ located or not then in hitter’s counts 93 middle-middle. Not too much mystery. Fisher has been the biggest disappointment from last year to this year for sure.

I thought last year when Neely was moved to the pen it was best for him getting ready to play some pro ball. A RHP with 94-96 in the tank and a sharp slider that sits 86 makes a good reliever but without an off speed pitch with command, a starter—not so much.

The whole lineup should have learned how to manage playing the game offensively between the peaks and valleys. It’s the biggest part of the team’s success within the game.

I won't name names but we had at least 3 players backslide this year from last year. I also called them talented... not superstars. But carry on with your hyperbole... I know you're as disappointed in this team as I am.
