I haven't seen it confirmed, but I'm 90% sure that's what happened. The team got (justifiably) pretty rowdy after the Shelnut homer and then Sully was screaming at Neely in the dugout.
Nothing about it on stat sheet. Wouldn't they list an ejection? Maybe Sully took it upon himself to teach the lesson. All I know is he sat Neely after he pitched 7 & 8 and sent McNeillie in top of the 9th.
Thanks. I was wondering what Sully was yelling about. Neely and Shelnut just seem to have a knack for this stuff.
Not sure he was ejected as he was in the dugout with his arm wrapped. He would have had to leave had he been ejected.
Huge win! I know it's early but with 7 losses already, you have to win an opening SEC home series. And the Aggies are an excellent team and well coached.- so a fantastic win. I admit, I was surprised and worried when I saw McNeillie enter the game in the 9th-- I was certain that Neely would take us home for the W but Luke came through- so it may be the start of something important for him as a contributor. FWIW: I had the opportunity to talk to a few scouts- fonts of useful information-- and in discussing the struggles of a couple of our top freshmen one cited “tired arm” syndrome—the freshmen come in trying to impress and they are throwing a lot of pitches in Fall and Spring ball (more than they have before college ball) and as the arm tires and velo dips, they compensate with extra effort and then the mechanics go south and they miss spots are walk or hit batters. The top talent come out of it… They’re convinced that Peterson and McNellie will be excellent. Likely Menendez too. I also asked whether they thought Cags would be a “two-way” at the next level and they said at the start yes. DH and spot start but eventually will choose the Bat…. One jokingly citing—once in 100-year talents-- Ruth and Ohtani and no else in the majors has been successful as a two-way or even tried it. They all slot Shelton at second base at the next level.
Great wisdom. One of my kids coaches was riding their asses after a game and basically said - All the moms in the stand say great hit. All it was is a LONG F-ING OUT.
