Much much better job today hitting the ball where it’s pitched. Good to see.

    Ugly win, but a win.

    Bats showed up, pitching barely.

Feel like the Gators went out and won this one with good (or at least better) baseball. A bunch of runs, guys hitting it where it was pitched to oppo against the shift, a couple of DPs, decent base running, 5 steals. Good signs

28 runs allowed in the series ain't gonna cut it....58 runs in last 5 games. Comical if it weren't so sad.

I know it ended up being a loss last night, but they fought and maybe we look back and see it as a turning point in the season.

A win is a win, but the Gators have a lot to clean up, as they go into the meatgrinder the next 4 weekends with Vandy, Arkansas, Tennessee & Kentucky. To be the best you've got to beat the best, but if you're not the best the best will beat you like a dog.

Yep, those are T ball numbers.

Hard to win anywhere without quality starts/pitching. We do have a solid record on Sunday when Cags starts and we're facing the other team's #3.

    LMAO—

@ursidman — we keep running bases like this and Coach@wingtee might be out of a job!;)

    This win today showed resolve!!!

Highlight of the weekend was watching Coppola make his come back. I was in a great position right behind home plate and his stuff looked very very good, for not throwing against live competition in a long, long time. we get another arm with them and it changes things. I’ll be very interested to see what he can do next Saturday. Hope he can give us four or five.

Our starting pitching has been better than most give credit to. Problem is we get down 2-0 or 3-0 too often only start hitting when we were down in the six or seventh inning. Too late to start hitting against good clubs.

it’s very normal for our starting pitcher to give up two or three runs in four or five innings that is actually a quality start. Again, we have to compete at the plate early as we did today.

Tybo- looks like we found our lead off guy.
Shelton- starting to swing it again.

Jac- what can you say? One of the best to ever wear a Gator uniform. Another quality start and still hovering around 400!!!

Shelnut- I feel like he could go on a tear at some point.

Donay- may be our key down the stretch. If we can get 12-13 homers out of him we will be tough.

Kurland- love the grit and know at some point it’ll all come together. Still think he’s no where near 100%. Starts hitting curve and look out.

Heyman- very pull heavy. We need him to start making contact. When he makes contact, good things happen.

Garrison- starting to swing it a little.

Mikey- care less about what the average says as the kid had several very good at bats this weekend.

Neely- two quality starts in a row. as I said, we need to be competitive at the plate and not get shut out the first four and five innings. Not on the pitcher as he did his job.

Peterson and McNellie- just need to go out the hitters sometimes more. Both have very very very good stuff. I need to trust it a little bit more, but that comes with time.

Cags- solid today as usual. Nice bounce back for him.

For the mathematically challenged, Neely didn't give up 2 or 3 runs....he gave up 5. I'll leave the definition of quality start to individual standards

Yea, just me, but giving up 2-3 earned runs in the first inning, giving up a bunch free passes and then only lasting 4 or 5 inn is not a quality start. Pitching needs to get better, a lot better if this team is gonna make the postseason. Still have hope tho.

I sit behind home plate and Neely did pitch well. The fact that two guys that barely hit their weight and are both pretty small took him yard was just really bad luck. Stuff happens in baseball. I get that the numbers don't look good but he pitched way better than those numbers.

It's not just you. IF he can give up 2-3 and give us 5-6 kind of like Jac today we have a chance. Starter giving up 5 and still 1/3 of the game left is not a winning recipe

Maybe bad luck, or maybe just lack of focus/bad location to weak hitters. At some point the numbers are the numbers.

I know it reads like it, but I wasn't trying to single anyone out, I've just grown weary of hearing that pitching has been fine and it's the hitters that are the issue. You're not gonna start many games down 2-3 runs in the first, give up 8+ and win.
2 or 3 inn of shutout ball to start the game would be a pleasant surprise.
