I understand your reasoning re Slater but in a winner take all game with the season on the line you should have guys tossing just in case and after HR- Ficc should have been in there. That plus playing infield back in a tie game in 8th? That was a head in your hands moment.

I recall sometime after the homerun I was typing in the game thread asking anyone there who was up and throwing. At that moment as Sully started to come out Cardozo said no one was up in the bullpen and my heart sank. Sully seemed all in with Slater. It made me wonder if during the break the coaches convened and the consensus was go with Slater to finish it out. Why Sully couldn't get away from that is up for conjecture. I put my thought in my other thread but who knows. I just know I was in disbelief we had no one up when it counted the most. I don't care if Slater is throwing lights out. You don't sit by and assume all will go well just because that was the decision you were going with no matter what.

You are not alone 87- same thoughts and heart sinking feelings here when Sooners tied the game in 8th and I saw no one was throwing in pen with the season on the line. Major screw up in my view.

Saw that about Wyatt today. That is one tough ballplayer. Sully wasn't even aware of it until the delay. Bet most of the team wasn't either.

Wyatt is a Dude. Not sure about draft status this year- but wish he is back and hits and plays like he did this year. Wyatt, Sterlin, BT and later on Jac, and Ty carried us far.-- we could have gone on in the post-season but alas. Hope Wyatt and some others get good summer league experience and do it again next year. I know that Sterlin and BT are draft eligible so we will see how that plays out. Sterlin likely late first rounder so tough call for the family. I'd be great if he came back and he and Wyatt were Golden Spikes candidate. I have a good vibe about 2023 season.

Now that I have had time to let it sink in:

We had a stacked regional and almost pulled it off.

OU is a VERY good team so no shame.

Central Michigan as a 4 seed was a joke. They were legit.

    Liberty was a solid club.

87, we had control of the deciding game -- weather delay didn't help-- but the game management in the 8th inning was stunningly poor. Still stings and watching equal/lesser teams advancing to Omaha ticks me off. The guys deserved better.
