All we can do is force them to beat us twice. This is a very good team that earned a home regional. No need to be disappointed. Get a good night's rest and let's win 2 tomorrow. In other news, Arizona went 0-2 as a host and Vandy did too as a 2.

In the parallel universe where Brian Holiday came to UF to be Hurston Waldrep v. 2 and someone found a $150k bag for Billy Amick... the Gators are a top 8 (probably top 4) national seed.

But, hey, at least our boys still outlasted Vandy and their damn whistlers.

(Edit: and maybe they'll pull off some 3-win miracle... but I'm not holding my breath on that one)

Wake will have 3 top 10 picks in the upcoming draft and went 0-2. If I heard the stat correctly, Clemson hasn't advanced as a regional host since 2014, last 5 times they have hosted they have not advanced. Postseason baseball can get weird sometimes.

After the day the Gators had, I'd have to say my high point was knowing Vandy went 2 and Q.

As a fan of Borussia Dortmund (who lost the Champions League final -- basically the game to decide that year's best soccer team in Europe -- a couple hours before the GatorBB game), I second the motion!

How many first pitch off-speed breaking balls for strikes does Holliday need to throw before the Gators' batters (or coaches) figure out the pattern? A very unfortunate performance after yesterday's 14 hits.
PS: Jac is a first baseman at the next level.

"We were in this position last year, I think," Florida baseball coach Kevin O'Sullivan said. "We have enough pitching to get through tomorrow's game and then hopefully we're fortunate enough to move on and have another chance to play Oklahoma State."

Wishful thinking on the part of our coach. This team is a mere shadow of last year's team.

If Cags pitches in the majors, it may be as in a middle relief role, an inning or two. He goes due to his bat and will most likely play first base. He will be missed. I do wonder how much NIL money went to him and if that money was spread out maybe we could pay more for a few other guys. I do think there are other teams that have a boat load of money that can buy players. We are not there imo.

Several posters here mention NIL disparities and how the Gators seem to be lagging "elite" teams in terms of available funds... and that could be affecting the quality of the players that play for the Orange & Blue.
Question: is there a reliable source/data base for the NIL money that universities can tap into by sport? Or is it simply speculation?

The Gators have had to "tip their caps" to too many pitchers this year.

Pure speculation, but also some fairly obvious highest bidder situations.

This hurts Vandy the most. They lost their only private school in the SEC scholarship loophole.

Agree. Being able to give the whole team full rides isn’t as much of a lure for top players as it was a few years ago. We have taken advantage of bright futures scholarships here to reap similar benefits. Both teams have good fanbases too, but not the rabid, win at all costs bases like LSU that are willing to sell their food stamps or steal money from a children’s hospital to buy their favorite team some players.
