A Gator win has to be treated like a retraction because of all their slobbering over the other team beforehand. It's embarrassing for them to even have to mention it.
It is outstanding, nearly 45+/- pages! Love the enthusiasm. Hope all stay and become ardent gator baseball fans....!
MCB- Probably everyone does--- except LSU and Bama---there is no way those two could think that---they already get all the calls!
GG, count me as a guy who has been on these pages daily from the start of the season. I'm not a Gator Fan of one sport over any other. I'm a Gator. Period. I follow our guys/gals in any endeavor. I live in the Belly of the Beast in Knoxville and work for (for 22 years) the equivalent of Ben Hill Griffin for UTn. I have learned how to fight back by following ALL my alma mater's teams...all of whom consistently outshine the local college. A fact I am happy to point out to the Great Unwashed around here. But I actually WATCH very few of our games. Too anxious for the kids. I just stay away as much as I can until the outcome is farther along. Last night, I waited until around 10:00 pm to check my twitter feed...saw 4-2/Top 7 and said "Well, all right."
While certainly mostly true, I recall two games where I really think me and my buddies helped the team we were rooting for win. The first was at one of the first season Jag's games (might have been second season). They were getting beat pretty bad, and the whole stadium was (and had been) quite as a church. Being Gator fans we didn't understand what was up with that, and we started cheering and yelling our brains out. It got several around us fired up, and that spread and spread. Next thing you know we started coming back, and then everyone got into it. Jags ended up coming all the way back for an amazing ending. 2nd was at a Durham bulls game.... similar situation.... similar results. Me and my buddy were behind home plate and totally got into the pitcher's head. There is a home advantage in every sport, and if the fans don't get things going, you will lose that advantage.
With probably 23k fans in the stands rabid for LSU, just makes the gator performance on the diamond and mound, etc, that much more impressive. Like the win over the huskers in'05!

Out of town working. At night I have no internet or even cell phone coverage. thanks to everyone for helping me relive the game through this thread. Sounds like it was a real good game. Edit: Upon further review, gators struggle offensively, gator pitching is dominant, the umps suck, the announcers hate us, Gators win by 1. Pretty standard 2017 issue game.
I disagree about starting him, but they certainly kept him in there too long and the coach acknowledged that he got greedy. You can't walk batters. I would maybe have taken him out after the first walk, definitely after the 2nd walk if not after the 6th straight ball. I think we might have the confidence in Faedo and Singer for Game 2 and 3 if the roles were reversed so I am not sure we wouldn't have pulled a similar move. I don't know enough about the other options they had, but he was dealing the first 3 innings.
I thought the LSU starter pitched pretty well, hit the corners and did better than I expected. Manieri left him in too long, but it wasn't the starter that gave up India's double, so the replacement didn't work out so well either.
Singer did get 12 K's, but not for the reason I thought of. The home plate blue had a strike zone as wide as a horse's ass and Brady and Sully took advantage.
Gator Championship Celebration. http://floridagators.com/news/2017/...ip-celebration-information.aspx?path=baseball
Can we pin the two championship game threads on top thru the whole off-season?? I'd love to run thru them a few times Also, any listing of game replays on espn/sec would be appreciated!
